Some of the recent developments:
  1. The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that the EU-brokered agreement to settle the Ukrainian political crisis which was signed on February 21 and certified by the foreign ministers of Germany, Poland and France “is still not being implemented." “Militants, who still haven’t surrendered arms and not vacated administrative buildings, announced their intention to ‘bring order’ to all Ukrainian regions,” the Russian ministry said. The agreement to jointly investigate violence, as well as to form a national unity government “fell into oblivion,” Moscow said. “Instead, as it was announced on [Kiev’s] Maidan ‘a government of winners’ has been established which includes nationalist extremists.”
  2. Viktor Yanukovich will hold a news conference in Russia’s Rostov-on-Don at 1700 local time (1300 GMT) on Friday, reports Itar-Tass.
  3. While American cities crumble and the American Poor and Homeless starve and freeze, the US Government is ready to give Ukraine around $1 billion in aid, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said following a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry, according to Interfax.

America’s current administration is awful, however, if I had to pick my neighbour, it would still be the U.S… I am very very happy that I don’t have Russia as a neighbouring country.

P.S. Thank goodness, Alaska is an American state.
Russia has more legal restrictions against the world’s two greatest evils - Abortion and Sodomy - than does the West.

Russia currently is the only superpower with a Leader who is not afraid to defend Christianity in Public.

Russia has been converted and the errors of Russia have spread - to the West.

The demonization of Putin is predictable given his defense of traditional Christain values. The devil always attacks Nations and Men that respect the Natural and Moral Law.

Russia now has the Moral High Ground that the West abandoned.

Putin still has a tendre for communism (or did you not read my last few posts), so I will not be deceived by a wolf in sheep’s clothing. His type of Christianity is for convenience sake only (his true colours will show forth eventually).

Putin still has a tendre for communism
I don’t see any support for any claim that Putin wants to nationalize all of the industries and small businesses in Russia and install an atheistic system of education. Quite the contrary. He has supported the establishment of private business and he has supported the rebuilding of the Russian Orthodox Church. You are making statements which are ridiculous. Do you know that the communist party is an opposition party in Russia which opposes President Putin and his United Russia Party?

I would choose neither. The US is not a bad neighbour to countries with which she shares a border, but she is a loose cannon going round the world stirring up trouble and killing other countries’ citizens with drones and whatnot. I wish Americans would understand that this habit is making the world more dangerous for THEM.

I would choose Canada as a nice, big, unaggressive neighbour, I think.

Ridiculous, really, have you read the last posts I’ve written on Putin or what Kyiv has written about Putin?

I don’t believe they are a “loose cannon”, albeit their current administration is bungling up not only domestic issues but their foreign policy as well. Although with regards to the Ukraine they have at least made a stand against a completely corrupted government.

I said he had a tendre for communism, I didn’t say he was going to swallow it whole hog, so I stand by my statement, ridiculous as you think they are, in fact, let me interject a few words Kyiv spoke a day ago (since I ran out of time to edit my original post):
On a personal note, Amnesty International did great work helping shine the spotlight on Ukrainian political prisoners imprisoned by the Soviet Union in the Gulag, several whom I came to know. One of them was the leader of the underground Ukrainian Catholic Church. He had powerful psychotropic drugs forced down his throat and injected into him, because the Kremlin thought him sick for opposing the Soviet Union’s persecution of Ukrainian Catholics and persecution of Ukrainians’ culture, religion, and language in the Soviet Union.
The man responsible for this man’s suffering and for the order to put enemies of the communist regime into psychiatric institutions (tens of thousands of them) was the deceased former long-time head of the Soviet KGB and General Secretary of the Soviet Union Yuri Andropov, who is to this day glorified by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin! Putin has proudly placed a plaque in the Russian Secret Police’s Lubyanka headquarters to honor Andropov, erected statues to him in today’s Russia, and has created “Andropov” scholarships for the future leaders of Russia’s secret police the FSB! It would be very good of some of those who post on CAF vigorously defending Putin to research Putin’s personal hero Yuri Andropov.
I truly believe that anybody who wishes to praise or defend Putin as a paragon of morality, must be ready to then defend Putin’s hero Yuri Andropov.
That’s an interesting fact about former KGB Putin, I mean what would a “good Christian” like him be doing lauding the likes of Yuri Andropov, a man who had no problems sending tens of thousands of “enemies” into psychiatric hospitals?

The armed groups wear Russian uniforms and wave Russian flags. Tensions mount with Russian military exercises on the border with Ukraine and the protection given to former President Yanukovych. Kerry and Lavrov determined to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Christian leaders ask for the “fraternal dialogue” and “peace in Ukrainian society”, welcoming all nationalities and all religions.

Rather awkward situation for the US to be in once again.

“[W]e’ll be monitoring very closely the situation, recognizing that with our European partners and the international community there will be [consequences if people step over the line].” Obama

I wish he stopped doing that red-line thing.

Armed Russians have taken over airports in Sevestapol and Simferopol, and deposed president Yanukhovych has now said he left because he feared for his life and that an illegal regime is now in power in Ukraine.

Truth be told I don’t think I would expect Putin to lose that piece of the monopoly board. You see what happened in Georgia. Dangerous situation, the West should stay out of it, unless we think he crossed the red line yet?

Kerry said this isn’t Rocky V.

From the BBC: “The Ukrainian authorities say they have regained control of two Crimean airports seized during an “armed invasion” by Russian forces. Russia’s navy previously denied involvement.”

The Kyiv post says they were Russian Army: kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/avakov-says-two-crimean-airports-taken-over-by-russian-army-337863.html

BBC is reporting "Ukraine’s border authority say its base in Sevastopol has been surrounded by Russian navy servicemen. "

I don’t think Putin has crossed any red line yet. And there isn’t a thing the US can do about it if he does.

Oh Josie, don’t you remember Putin shut down the last free (read: critical of Putin)radio and TV stations “for the God of the people?” It’s less 1984 than one would think. No thought police! 😉

He also arrested about 200 anti-Putin protesters after the Olympics closed

Daily Telegraph Moscow correspondent
tweets: New head of Crimean regional government says President Yanukovych is still president, will take instructions from him.

(Reuters) - Andriy Paruby, Ukraine’s top security official, accused the Kremlin on Friday of commanding armed groups in Сrimea where two airports have been taken over by armed men.

“These are separate groups … commanded by the Kremlin,” Paruby, secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, told a televised briefing in Kiev.

He said similar actions had been prevented elsewhere in Ukraine. He said Ukraine could not deploy military forces in Crimea without introducing a state of emergency.

Well at least, Russia has not been found to be spying on all the other countries of the world, ‘friends’ and otherwise nor to spying on its’ own population.
