And YET AGAIN this scary ultimatum that the media says is calling for the slaughter of all remaining Ukrainian forces in all of Crimea actually says:

Russians issue ultimatum for surrender of 2 Ukrainian warships in Crimea.

2 ships. Hmm, like to hyperventilate your media a lot there, eh Soros?

From The Guardian:
German chancellor Angela Merkel told US president Barack Obama that she thought Russian president Vladimir Putin may be “in another world.”
“She was not sure he was in touch with reality, people briefed on the call said. ‘In another world,’ she said,” the New York Times reported.

And if someone reads the actual article from the Telegraph (lost the link, sorry) She doesn’t quite come off as saying “Putin is insane” since she actually is saying that their worldviews are very far apart right now.

Good job, NYT, keep doing the bidding of Soros

*16.40 According to Reuters the speaker of Russia’s lower parliament house said earlier today that “for now, there is no need” to send the Russian armed forces into Ukraine.

On Saturday Vladimir Putin secured the parliament’s permission to use the military in Ukraine if he wishes, citing the need to protect Russians.

State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin told the state-run Rossiya-24 television in an interview:

“The decision … only gives the right (to use the armed forces), which can be exercised in case of necessity; for now there is no need.”*

Just in from the BBC live feeds:
Duncan Crawford BBC News tweets: Ukraine’s Ambassador to the EU Kostiantyn Yelisieiev says #Russia may kill some their own troops as a provocation… (and blame #Ukraine)

OK, the Russians are no saints but this is so laughably ridiculous, this is literally “Bush did 9-11” stuff right here
I am not the one claiming this might occur, I am merely quoting the most recent feed.

You do know that right? Not me? 🤷

To everyone on this thread:

I do not wish to be involved in these discussions anymore. It was a mistake to use this forum for discussing something political instead of for my purely spiritual focus of being here on this forum. And I certainly don’t want my statements on Church teachings to be taken less seriously because of anything political I may have said, and if I offended anybody on any side, then I apologize.

So from now on I will refrain for any political statements and simply pray for Peace in the Ukraine, Crimea and Russia.

Please everyone join me, regardless of political thought, in praying for Peace and Friendship.

For the people of the Ukraine: :highprayer:

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

For the people of Russia: :highprayer:

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

For all military personal on both sides: :highprayer:

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

For peace and friendship: :highprayer:

Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

And MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, May God use these events to draw people from every side to his divine mercy: :highprayer:

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

My deep and abiding love goes out to all of my brothers ans sisters on this thread!

Personally, I’m reserving judgment on that until 2201EDT.
It would be pretty bold for the Defense Ministry to blatantly lie, so far Russia has not fired a single shot and I am very very sure they want to keep it that way, Putin might be angry at western organizations for trying to topple his neighboring allies but at the same time he knows he can’t isolate his country otherwise it will all be placed at his feet by his angry citizens

Coming from Interfax now as well

Interfax-Russia news agency is now quoting a spokesman for the Russian Black Sea Fleet denying reports about an ultimatum being issued to the Ukrainian troops in Crimea. “This is nonsense”, a spokesman said. “We are getting used to daily reports accusing us of preparing to military action against our Ukrainian colleagues. We will not be pushed towards a head-on confrontation.”

also

Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev has signed off a project to build a bridge linking the Ukrainian town of Kerch in Crimea to Russia. The bridge would cross the Strait of Kerch, and give Russia’s southern Krasnodar region a direct link to Crimea, bypassing the rest of Ukraine. Kiev says the Russian military is currently amassing armoured vehicles across the strait. The bridge has been under discussion for a decade, and was agreed by the deposed President, Viktor Yanukovych.

Hmm, also officially at least Ukraine has told their military to not provoke Russia in any way.

Seems we have some 3rd party or parties wanting the two kids to fight on the playground, and I can take a guess at what some of those 3rd parties might be…

“Fog of war” there may have been an ultimatum given by a commander on the ground and subsequently overturned by superiors. No telling, but we all need to remember there are reports in cases like this that end up being incorrect.

Some of the dead lines in the media are probably propaganda to promote surrender The ferry and above area they took early today.

I pray that both sides remember that conferences can be reconvened, treaties can be renegotiated, but bullets can’t be un-fired.

Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for them.
I’ve made that part of my chaplet. Actually, the while chaplet, interspersed with the Ave.

Well so far we don’t have the governments of Latvia or Lithuania abusing Russians in their territory so they have nothing to worry about
Soviet genocide was carried out in Latvia and Lithuania too, so there are ethnic Russian populations in those countries as well. There is no certainty Russia will not create “ethnic crises” in those countries as well. It worked in Georgia, and is likely to work in Ukraine. So I think it not unreasonable for the Baltic countries to be concerned. They know what Russian imperialism is capable of.

There is no former Soviet state that can be sure it will not be re-incorporated into a latter day Russian empire.

it seems to me that the reason Russia went in was not because of an Ethnic crisis, but a political one. You know chaos on the streets, and the people of Crimea thought to entrust there political/economic safty with the Russians.

Its obvious that the isn’t an epidemic of discrimination against the Russians in the Ukraine, but when a vote for Russian trading power gets the president ousted and a violent uprising, then those who supported Russia might be afeared.

Edit-Think i might have just contradicted myself.
