Except for their strange apparent sympathy for the Charismatic movement, the four new bishops have the right doctrinal positions.

How ironic that they are condemned by an archbishop-major who has no more papal mandate to be called “Patriarch” than they have to be called “bishop.”

What a mess.

Let us pray for the re-Catholicizing of all the churches, eastern or western.
 
If they were consecrated without mandate, then the consecration was not valid anyway…

No problem! The difference is that the consecrated man would indeed be a bishop with the ability to ordain and confirm, but he would be in grave sin for accepting the consecration (as would the consecrating bishops), or for exercising those powers. I believe it’s actually an automatically excommunicative offense.

Ok, I actually just read the article, and it appears that this cannot be an automatic excommunication. I do believe it still constitutes the sin of disobedience, but at least they appear to be submitting themselves to Rome.
