Yes Kamaduck, I’ve attempted to learn korean as well . It’s quite difficult but i’ve managed to learn certain words at least.

Kdramas are generally super sweet when compared to American tv shows, and the melodramas omg you will cry like a baby!. Alothough I must warn you as I said before they are super addicting and you might end up having no life lol

If you are interested I can PM some recommendations to you.
I know how it is, I tried to teach myself Japanese a while ago after watching anime. It didn’t stick very well, but I do like learning bits and pieces. Asian languages are hard! :o

As for the recommendations, I’m afraid I can’t afford to have no life right now. I have very little unused life as it is. 😛 Maybe I will look into it later, though. 🙂

List of my favorite shows (I did’t watch tv in the 90’s): seinfeld, third rock from the sun,
trailer park boys, breaking bad, beavis and butthead 😊(a guilty pleasure.) the walking dead, and the big bang theory. 👍

I just watched a very exciting basketball game on ESPN featuring Minnesota and the #1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers. I was rooting for Minnesota and they won. It was the best game I’ve seen in a long time and I’ve seen some good ones this year.

I can’t wait for the NCAA tournament.

This was a better choice than CNN’s special on Cardinal Mahony and the sexual abuse scandal.

I forgot NFL Football(Indianapolis Colts only) family guy and american dad.😛

Most of the time I watch Top Gear, but sometimes I’ll turn on Top Gear. The rest of the time I watch Top Gear.

We, as a family, never miss “NCIS”. Every Tuesday at 7 p.m. you’ll find us in the TV room glued to the set!

For me, that’s about all the “can’t miss” shows, although I will watch “Pawn Stars”, “Duck Dynasty”, and “Chopped” if I happen to be in the room when they come on. I rarely, if ever, turn on the TV. Husband and son do that for sports, including (guilty pleasure) Monday Night Raw or Wrestlemania or whatever that show is with John Cena and the Rock (you see how closely I pay attention… the information I have I get from hearing their conversations.

Come on folks, there’s got to be something you enjoy watching on TV. (No sardonic remarks please.)
My favorite shows from the 90’s were NYPD Blue (before the depature of Jimmy Simts), Married With Children and the original Law & Order (before it became a revovling door of characters)

To be perfectly honest, I don’t watch alot of TV. I’m a sports junkie and will start watching the studio shows on the NFL Network when free agency gets underway. That said, wake me on Selection Sunday and i’ll start caring about college basketball. When the MLB season gets underway, quite literaly, i’lll watch every Royals game that is televised.

Just my preference, reality shows get stale after awhile. Case in point, Ice Road Truckers. After the first two seasons running in Alaska, it’s been there, done that. So many cable networks have “jumped the shark” in favor of reality shows. I’ve even noticed GAC (Great American Country) airing fewer and fewer country music shows in primetime.

The only thing you find on the cable networks are either reruns of every Law & Order brands as well as CSI.

Most of the primetime shows on the broadcast networks just don’t interest me. As a fan of Emergency!, I tried to watch Chicago Fire, but that show couldn’t care Emergency’s jock strap.

If your worried about that just ask your girlfriend to say moshi moshi. if she can’t or if she refuses, then kick her to the curb as she’s probably a nine-tailed fox demon.
Yes, of course. That’s obvious to anyone

Dexter? A show about a guy whose hobby is kidnapping people, cutting them up and shoving the remains into trash bags?

Friends? Friends and fornicators. It started out good, but ended with Rachel getting pregnant and walking away from Ross (what an idiot - never read that condoms aren’t 100% effective).

NYPD Blue? “Warning: The following program contains brief scenes of partial nudity.” As a professional writer and editor, my first thought was - Why do I need to see bare female behinds? And, why the escalating profanity?

Peace,
Ed

early shows I watched the Power Rangers, Quantum Leap, Night Court, Law and Order, the original and SVU. a lot of food network, i miss Good Eats. but enjoy Chopped and I wish they still showed the original Iron Chef. Football; NFL and College, mainly Philadelphia Eagles and Florida Gators. Now watch Supernatural, the Walking Dead, I used to watch Glee, but have stopped a long time ago. I watch a lot of HGTV, used to watch TLC and Sci Fi channel or History but now they are mostly reality tv so don’t watch those anymore.

You are incorrect about Friends. That’s not how it ended.

No one forced you to watch it, correct? NYPD Blue was one of the best, if not the best written show on TV in the 90’s.

Heh, there’s plenty of men that watch kdramas just that some wont’ admit it haha.
I find Shin Min Ah beautiful as well, I believe she is also a model.

I do recommend kdramas because they tend to be very safe and they are super addicting 👍. You can watch hundreds of them for free online with english subtitles.

I once spent 4 months straight watching only kdramas and korean variety shows (when my obsession first started) and then one day I decided to watch a regular American show and the difference was striking lol!

I don’t watch some American shows that were mentioned such as Blue Bloods, Elementary and Person of Interest.
Shin Min Ah’s figure is more beautiful than your typical Korean actress/singer. 🙂

I am quite discriminating when it comes to watching Korean dramas. This is because there is a trend of showing the infamous “infidelity/divorce” genre of Korean drama here in the Philippines!

Well, what shows do you like?

Nobody forces anyone to watch anything, which is something that seems to be consistently ignored. You can throw the TV out if you want and never watch anything.

The problem is that people want to control everyone else’s choices and tell them what they can and cannot do. “If I think it’s bad, then it’s bad for everyone”

Set up rules for yourself and your family and leave everyone else to do the same.

As Jim Rome says “rack him”. (a sports talk host who says “rack him” after a good call)

I like posts like this and the fact this thread is really fully of them. 👍 It really goes to show the kind of diversity people have with regards to the shows they watch. I don’t think it matters how many hours you divest in front of the actual tube. Personally, I think we should all stand up a little more this season whenever someone posts here generalizing people who like their shows as in the same league as mindless couch potato drones.

You said it (and I’ve got friends with DVDs of all episodes). I still can’t forget that word near the end… ‘phalange.’

:rotfl:

P.S.

Then again, what can all you guys expect from ed here? You know ed, for all the experience and positions you hold, I can’t help but suspect one of the following:
  • You work in a very niche part of media to get away with the things you fling at the mainstream.
  • Being a 50s style conservative is actually a lot easier in media given that they haven’t done anything to throw you out for your views.
  • You are not being entirely honest about where you work and whether you post your rants in the figurative closet. You sure that’s a healthy idea?
