Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Thursday defended House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s (D-CA) secret impeachment chamber, arguing that impeachment due process would essentially “help potential criminals line up their testimony.”​

Ocasio-Cortez, who called for President Trump to be impeached prior to her taking office in January, expressed support for Schiff’s secret impeachment proceedings in a response to Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV) on Twitter.

“Hey @AOC I thought you supported Open and Transparent government,” Mooney wrote. “Truth is for @AOC the ends justify the means and she gladly reverts to Soviet style secret hearings in the Capitol basement.” . .

. . . . the House Republicans who stormed Schiff’s secret impeachment lair on Wednesday in an effort to demand transparency. Republicans have argued that there is no reason for Schiff to conduct the interviews with witnesses in Schiff’s chamber – or the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) – as “no classified material being discussed,” as Breitbart News reported.

Conducting the interviews in the basement bunker has largely allowed Democrats to leak what they believe to be key lines from witness interviews in an effort to drive the impeachment narrative. . . .

We may not be completely united, but I think that nearly all Americans understand that the investigation being led by Schiff is not a “Trial”. Neither is it “Unamerican”.
I think that nearly all recognize it as a red herring to misdirect from the emerging facts.

Perhaps “unconstitutional” and “completely idiotic” would be better terms.

What better way to prove, once and for all, that there is no “deep state” while restoring faith in our elected officials, than to hold impeachment hearings secretly.
 
Where’sthe whistleblower,why isn’t our president being allowed to confront his accusers? This is vile and I hope and pray the Dems pay BIG time at the ballot box in 2020

He is not, despite the suggestive theadline, on trial.

That occurs after the investigation, if House moves and votes to i impeach Trump and he is tired in the Senate. In the meantime, even at this inquiry stage, Republicans are present and able to question the witnesses to their heart’s content.

Exactly. And also if one is truly interested in getting objective facts, why in the world would they use Fox and Breitbart?

Answer: they wouldn’t.
 
Because this is still in the “deposition” stage, and Republicans in the Intelligence Committee are in there as well. The Pubs did exactly the same thing during the Benghazi depositions.

What a hoot!

Jonah Goldberg was on npr this morning talking about the Republican stunt of forcing their way into the SCIF. He suggested that people might not realize that the testimony in the SCIF included both Democrats and Republicans of the the investigating committee and their lawyers. I thought that that was a wild claim.

Apparently not.

For anyone still in the dark:
The testimony in the SCIF is being heard by the Republican and Democratic party committee members and their lawyers, all of whom are given as much time as they want to question the witnesses.
 
AOC thinks people with a different opinion is a liar. She doesn’t know what a lie is.

She wants censorship of people she disagrees with.
 
Interesting that the tone from people who supported Mueller’s investigation and the impeachment inquiry seem to not feel the same way about Durham’s now crimial probe. Not you per se, as I do not recall you posting in that topic.

More interesting has been the folk who take the Mueller report as “complete and total EXONERATION”, but still obsess over HRC 's emails. I am happy to wait to see what Durham comes up with. Something thing I also advocated during the Muller investigation. Or should Durham’s secret proceedings be stormed?

Actually, they seem more fascistic, but I guess that’s a distinction without a difference.
