Well… I am shocked that the other women would screw up their face over a request. A more charitable response would have been ‘I am sorry I am only comfortable giving gift for the baby.’

At the end of the day, if they are giving they do have a right to chose what to give. They just should be a bit more polite in how they say no
Yes I agree with the above–

In the bulletin I would ask for donations for these birt hmothers that chose life in difficult circumstances and list what is needed.

They should be acknowledged too-imho.

If women in this circumstance are continued to treated with judgement, scandalized, and lack of compassion -no wonder abortion is considered in some cases. We have to be mindful of this and show mercy. Just my two cents…

A distinction about making faces: It wasn’t occurring to me that you were talking about women who were actually making faces at you! And just for the effect it would have on you and communicate to others! That would be unusual, IMO, and I suppose that could happen. And if it did, yes, wow, that would be very rude. Yes,* just like *naughty children! In that case your exasperated reaction makes perfect sense.

I was instead thinking about women who would have the reaction for the reasons I described, and involuntarily their honest reaction would show in their faces, and the “face-squinching” would be an effort to hide their honest reactions. That happens to me. I do not want to tell people my first reaction, which generally at that point even I do not understand. I will have a strong initial reaction to a thing, and like it or not, involuntarily it will show on my face for others to see, and seeing that I will* hold it back* - an effort which probably shows in my expression - while I consider alone, as I prefer to, why I had this response and if I think the response is reasonable or if I can change my thinking. That’s just me, and also the way other with similar temperament to mine react.

To explain further, some people have a strong personal reaction to a thing and blurt it right out. Not me. Then still others have a mild hardly detectable reaction, and while sitting on it with themselves later, the reaction increases and it lasts. Others have a mild reaction* and *it doesn’t last. Not me either - I tend to have a strong reaction right off, but it cools down later and also *does not last *(though my thoughts on the matter might). Everyone is different.

These reaction-responses and how they last are consistent for the four different temperaments: Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic, Phlegmatic. You can look it up. And also that means some showed *no *reaction and develop a *strong, *lasting one, later…

Well, I will write anyway how it works, from my recollection. Its like this:

Cholerics get a strong immediate reaction, and they usually express it, and their reaction/feeling lasts long.
Sanguines get a strong immediate reaction, and express it or not, that feeling does not last long.
Meloncholic gets a* weak immediate reaction*, may or may not express it, but the feeling/thought grows, and it lasts long.
Phlegmatic gets a weak immediate reaction, and express it or not, the feeling/thought does not last long.

Tomorrow we will have a meeting about possible Works of Mercy projects. This is in addition to the event Monday evening. I will propose our group take this on, raise money for ongoing needs. I will start out with the ages of the mothers accepted by the home and talk about the reasons why girls so young need the facility before I go into the needs of the girls. I will try to draw on all we have talked about here. Thank you for your help.
