Understanding homosexuality

You may be right and at the end of the day the Seminary Directors know best. I am not advocating that they should overlook alcoholism and homosexuality. A lot of factors have to be considered but at the end of the day a homosexual and an alcoholic may still be allowed in.

However in the case of pedophilia, these people choose children too small to fight back. They are dangerous. Their deeds are always criminal. Therefore a pedophile should never be allowed in.

But we’re talking about someone who has a tendency towards pedophilia, not someone who has committed any acts yet.

So they’re not criminals. Nor have they sinned.

I still cannot understand your logic in prohibiting someone like this (who has their pedophile behavior “under control” ) yet accepting someone who has another tendency (which is under control). It seems to me that your measure for the OK-ness of alcoholics and homosexuals is if they have it “under control”, yet you do not use the same yardstick for those who have a pedophilic desire.

That’s fine, we disagree. But for me it’s not a matter of one condition being worse than another, I think all three are significant enough to be an impediment to the priesthood.

Actually, what I’m getting at is that you are selectively using different criteria to come to your conclusion, i.e. your logic is faulty, yet you criticize my logic. Que Sera, sera.

Don’t forget that a single act of alcoholism can ruin the life of entire families, too. Drunk + car = disaster, sooner or later.
