It’s not going to happen. The knowledge to build such weapons is out there, and it won’t go away. There’s no going back to the pre-nuclear age. It is that simple.

Christian values do not demand that we embrace stupidity.Like I said, Christian values only go so far. The USA, the greatest self proclaimed Christian Nation…will not set the example…Christian values only go so far.
Unilateral nuclear disarmament is not the same as “going back to the pre-nuclear age.” If the electorate of the USA supported that plan, then they could elect those politicians that wanted to cary it out. The USA is under no mandate or law fron God that requires it to maintain a nuclear arsonal. It’s not going to happen. The knowledge to build such weapons is out there, and it won’t go away. There’s no going back to the pre-nuclear age.
Thank you.Christian values do not demand that we embrace stupidity.
While it is true that abortion existed in ancient times, it does not seem to have been as prevalent as it is today. We don’t notice any specific compliants from our Creator about it. What He did note as His reason for sending the flood was mankind’s unrelenting propensity for violence. Now man has deployed nuclear weapons which, in my opinion, are the ultimate expession of violence. That is the violence that God finds so offensive. He promised that He would never again destroy mankind, but He will allow us to destroy ourselves with these evil devices which we have created in gross violation of His Laws.Define violence. I’d say abortion qualifies, and has to date killed many more people than nuclear war. I am not sure that is the best argument.
A world-wide disaster of fire is predicted in Scripture. Since our Creator has promised to never again destroy humanity (Genesis 8:21) the source of that fire can only be from man himself. And you talk about nuclear war in the affirmative, or almost past tense, as though it is a guarantee. Nothing is a guarantee, especially after decades of detente.
you haven’t proved this. why do you think irag is trying to develop the nuke? You continue to believe the government’s lying propaganda that our nuclear weapons are necessary for our safety. But exactly the opposite is true.
i think our sins are more offensive to God than a nuke arsenal. This arsonal is offensive to God, our Creator.
your opinion isn’t gospelwhich, in my opinion,
if it is predicted, it will happen. we can not be defenseless in such a future. unless you want to see the death of this nation.A world-wide disaster of fire is predicted in Scripture
When a vicious, rabid dog is threatening you and your family, one must practice the Christian value of tying one’s hands behind one’s back? That Christian value??Thank you, for this observation. In my opinion it demonstrates that the USA is not actually practicing Christian values.
- the use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated. The power of modern means of destruction weighs very heavily in evaluating this condition.
Oh please. I can know that without any word from the government, thank you.Thank you.
About the dumbest thing that we can do as citizens ot the USA is to believe our government’s propaganda that the USA’s arsonal of nuclear weapons is necessary for our safety.
God talked to you alone and told you that, eh?This arsonal is offensive to God, our Creator.
I don’t buy into the whole “vengeful God” thing, sorry. He has been patient and has saved us from blowing up the world several times already. But that forebearance won’t last much longer.
The Bishops also know that we need to work toward the whole world getting it done, not just have the U.S. drop their defenses completely first. We should follow the advice of the Catholic Bishops and get rid of the nukes while we still have time to do so.
If the choice is between unilateral nuclear disarmament and the unprecedented global disaster of a nuclear war between the USA and Russia, then the obvious choice is to disarm the USA’s nuclear weapons and take our chances living under the Russian nuclear umbrella. The Bishops also know that we need to work toward the whole world getting it done, not just have the U.S. drop their defenses completely first.
Again, we as Catholics are not called to embrace idiocy.
I don’t accept your false dichotomy. If the choice is between unilateral nuclear disarmament and the unprecedented global disaster of a nuclear war between the USA and Russia, then the obvious choice is to disarm the USA’s nuclear weapons and take our chances living under the Russian nuclear umbrella.
There are no scripture warnings about nuclear war.The real “idiocy,” in my opinion, is to disregard all of the scriptural warnings regarding a global disaster of fire.
I don’t engage in tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories. In the face of these warnings we cannot afford to go on believing our government’s lie that nuclear weapons are required to keep us safe.
exactly,Even if nuclear war is what Scripture is referring to, well if that’s what God has ordained, then it strikes me that that’s what He would make sure happens regardless of whether any or all nuclear powers disarmed. After all, Peter denied he’d betray Jesus, and did it anyway.
