Unilateral Nuclear Disarmament

As to MAD, not only has it been stable, it has prevented a general wide scale conflict between the Great Powers for over 70 years.

-----MAD has almost failed more than once. And it is not proven that nuclear weapons have prevented another world war. That’s just supposition. At any rate, the destruction of a conventional WW III does not compare to that which the world will experience in the coming global nuclear war.-----

If the US unilaterally disarmed, it would steadily lose influence and ultimately it would slip under the control of another power.
That is also only a supposition. It is not proven. Russia and the USA have been allies for a lot longer than the have been cold war opponents.

You’re complaining about MAD being a supposition, and yet demanding unilateral disarmament because of what you believe to be a Biblical prophecy. I can actually point to the fact that NATO and Russia have not fought a direct conflict in seven decades, you’ve got a prophecy that doesn’t even mention the word “nuclear”.

Even if I were a Catholic I’d find your interpretation simplistic and unconvincing, and your solution naive and improbable.

Of course ancient prophecy does not mention the word “nuclear.” It did not exist in those times. However, we do notice predictions for a world-wide destruction by fire in several prophecies, most notably: Isaiah 66:15-16. According to Genesis 8:21, the source of this fire cannot be from anything that would be considered an act of God, such as volcanos or fire from Heaven.

The objection has often been raised that ancient prophecy does not apply to modern times.
Isaiah 3:16-24 belies that notion as it is a perfect description of conditions for Jewish women in the slave labor camps of WW II.

Another issue is that this predicted global nuclear war could happen anytime in the next 1000 years and not in our immediate future. I have a very good answer for that, but I am not permitted to discuss it as it has been mislabled as an unapproved private revelation. If you are interested in this, send me a PM.

Last, I would note that Russia and the USA have never fought a direct war since the USA became a nation. The only reason that one would start now is the great fear each has for the other’s nuclear armed missiles.

My interpretation may seem simple, but often times it’s the simple answer that is the most accurate.
