University of Michigan's IT department suggests terms like ‘picnic’ and ‘brown bag’ are offensive

Reuters has already published an article explaining that “picnic” is from a French word that has zero to do with lynching or race.
I’m also highly confident that “brown bag” comes from the fact that bagged lunches came in the universal paper bag that was brown in color. A smaller cousin of the larger brown shopping bag still used in virtually all grocery and big box stores.

Oh, the horror of grocers in the US still GIVING away plastic bags.
More than ever in these days of covid - I don’t think anyone is allowed to bring their own, of any kind!
 
Don’t worry - - I’m just pointing out backwards and environmentally unfriendly the US is, etc.
Sorry to make a US-centered comment on a thread about an American university!
