Dear Friends in Christ.

I saw the movie “Unplanned” Tuesday evening (3/26) at the private showing in Massillon, and I would like to share my impressions of the film with you.

It was a “full house” (The preview showing at Tinseltown, in North Canton for Thursday night (3/28) was also sold out).

The film is excellent - very well done. The performance of actress Ashley Bratcher, who portrays Abby Johnson, is superb. The movie exposes the lie of, and the truth about Planned Parenthood.

All young women should see it, however, would say that children under age 13 should not see it.

The film should be rated PG-13 - there is no foul language, sex, violence, nudity, etc. in the film. It was given an R rating due to the nature of the subject matter.

This film, which highlights the life changing events of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director, opens nationwide on March 29. Locally, the movie will be playing at Tinseltown, on the Strip in North Canton, and at the Regal Interstate Park Stadium 18 Theater on south Arlington St. in south Akron. Let’s try to support this film on its opening weekend, so it will stay in the theaters longer.

Please tell your friends about this movie.

Below is the link to the official trailer preview video for the film.

“Unplanned is the inspiring true story of one woman’s journey of transformation. All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood.

But one day she saw something that changed everything, leading Abby Johnson to join her former adversaries at 40 Days For Life, and become one of the most ardent pro-life speakers in America.”

The link below is to a video of Abby Johnson testifying before the Kentucky State Senate Hearing concerning a pro-life bill under consideration. She gives a powerful, well-articulated, rebuttal against the false arguments given by those who seek to justify abortion. It is the best presentation of the pro-life position I have ever seen. Please watch it.

It was excellent. I am going to have to pray many rosaries to purge myself of the way those planned parenthood people think. Heartbreaking.

So far the movie has done better than expected at the box office. I hope the word will get around and it will continue to
do well.

I doubt even the movie’s staunchest supporters could deny that it is a totally one-sided portrayal.

Why would they want to present a balanced approach to killing babies?
That statement, in multiple ways, already goes a long way in substantiating my claim. Abortions make up from 3 to 12% of Planned Parenthood’s total services. To people who only hear one side of the story, they likely believe much differently. The portrayal of the agency is very exaggerated in almost every way in the movie. That sort of blatant disregard of basic facts will do nothing to move anyone from the other side.

Therefore there can only be two real motives to make the movie: Rally your already established base (I believe it has succeeded here) and make money (which by profiting indirectly from abortions, could be a turn off to the pro-life crowd).

I would like to make a correction in your assessment – not just girls, but young men should see it to since it takes two to make a baby. Also, since some women who have abortions due so in an emotional knee jerk when the husband or boyfriend walks away from them because of the pregnancy. I think there are many good men out there who want their child and are not given the choice, but one of the reasons women have abortions is a kneejerk reaction to their husband or boyfriend walking away from them or the potential.

I also look forward to when the “pro-choice” movement decides that adoption IS a choice. Unfortunately, they only are interested in one choice.

Probably no more comfortable than I am for you creating a straw man from my statement.
Notice what you said, “services”, you didn’t say “revenue” and everyone here, this is important.

One can hand out 5 boxes of contraceptives, call that a service, you can perform an abortion for up to $2,000. Maybe more.

It’s all in the accounting. This about “services” is directly what PP would say.

And if one doesn’t like Townhall as a source, even the Washington Post notes the discrepancy:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...3-percent-and-94-percent-are-both-misleading/

So that’s supposed to make me feel better about slaughtering babies?
It’s definitely an accounting trick about the percentages… note, they said “services”, if I hand out birth control pills in a box, that’s a service I would suppose.

Percentages versus Revenue

I also look forward to when the “pro-choice” movement decides that adoption IS a choice. Unfortunately, they only are interested in one choice.
Although my experience has observed that many pro-choice people are in favor of the adoption choice, I agree that much more work needs to be done in this regard.

Sorry, that sort of side-tracked the thread…

12% is a very large number. For every 9 women who come in to get the pill, one gets an abortion. That’s far too high. There have been former workers who talk of PP centers having “target goals.” The myth that people spread is that there is nowhere else for women to seek healthcare. If a woman is on welfare, gets medicaid, she can go to a regular OB/GYN and get PAP smears and breast exams, etc., and its covered.

Fair enough, I won’t off-track this.
But I see pro-choice being fierce about protecting abortion and not caring so much about adoption… if they did, there would be fierce adoption and fostering reform…but that’s been my experience.

Okay, back to the main subject…

My point is that it is a large stretch to state that the motivation for Planned Parenthood existence is to perform abortions as the movie makes it out to be. I’m sure there may be deluded individuals that think that way (shame on them) but the focus should be, and from my experience and research, is largely on prevention of pregnancy or successful management of it.

Let’s not forget, Abby worked for Planned Parenthood, there should be no confusion about this, she was weaned on them and eventually, came to change her mind about everything.

So I’ve almost seen some arguments that from the get-go, seem wrong.

She knows, she’s been a worker, perhaps even the boss at a Planned Parenthood clinic. A number of doctors have gone from abortionist to pro-life. So, if one is trying to discount first hand experiences, good luck.
