In the same correspondance he claims that the EP knows this, while also calling the EP the precursor of the antichrist. As I have posted, the only time, outside of Chick publications, that I have seen the Antichrist cited as a Church Father: St. Gregory can’t cite EP John and trash him at the same time. He also writes to the Pope of Alexandria, and claims that Alexandria, Antioch and Rome are “One Petrine See.”
You equate Gregory the Great to Jack Chick. And then praise him in the same paragraph for apparantly affirming your stance.
Too bad you broke off with the “One Petrine See” and it now only consists of Rome while the others are now outside looking in. If you come back you can be the Alexandria, Antioch ,Rome “One Petrine See” again. 👍

We are already, along with Jerusalem, and Peter’s older brother Andrew:thumbsup:

As I pointed out St. Gregory can’t cite as authority someone he is trashing.

But he can smack him down when he gets out of line. After all he had the authority to do so. And there didn’t seem to be alot of protest by the Church universal of him doing so.

You mean when they anathematized Honorius?

No, he was dead when they anathematized him.

You were just waiting to pull out that Honorius card weren’t you? How many times is that now?
So was Origen, Sergius, etc. Your point?

I think I’ve pulled out the Vigilius card, the Victor card, the Zosimos card,…

Why was he not excommunicated when he was alive?
I don’t know. Why was Origen dead a few centuries? Perhaps it took that look for the hindsight to kick in?

Another problem was the emperor officially backing Monotheletism, like it delayed the iconophiles from finally getting the opportunity to denounce the heresy.

I guess it’s easier to declare one a heretic when he’s not around to defend his belief or intent eh?

that is how it is you seem to see only what you want to see. even if is not true.

let me answer that for you. fallacy!
Galatians 2:11-13 said:
Paul Opposes Peter
11When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. 12Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

Sorry, Paul opposed PETER not a group. He was rebuking him for leading Jews astray by hypocrisy.

Maybe one day. And perhaps Honorius to. Or do you think he’s in hell?
Don’t know. Unlike telling us who is in heaven (canonized saints) God doesn’t tell us who is in hell. I hope and pray he’s not.
