Updates from a Seminarian

Cajun, I have set up the group of those young men interested in a vocation to the priesthood. I intended to invite you as you have a heart for vocations. But being female, I thought it might inhibit the boys from discussing Chasity issues. I hope you understand. The women of the church have always been the backbone of the church. I think we have a male priesthood because the Lord new that was the only way He could get them to step up. 😀

It is. Such a blessing. I ask them to take cold showers to build their will power and one young man said and sleep on the floor.
I copied and pasted the picture of the host you just put up on our message board. Keep praying we have 15 young men.

YoungApologist3,
I emailed Fr. Brannen and he appreciated your comments very much. Your comments
will be used to promote the book at the Serra convention!

Wonderful! I’m honored that my words will be used to promote such a wonderful resource! Thank you for forwarding my words to him.

A minor update (and some thoughts of mine) for everyone:

A few things have happened since I last posted an update. I got my picture taken, and attended my second event as a seminarian which included dinner with the bishop, a bunch of priests, and my brother seminarians. I also have been getting everything (forms and documentation) finalized. I have also been buying some things that I will need once I begin. It’s rather expensive, but that’s OK, because the Lord provides. It’s also comforting knowing that I won’t be turned away simply due to my lack of funds.

This reminds me of last Sunday’s Gospel reading. Our Lord tells the apostles…
to take nothing for the journey
but a walking stick—
no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals
but not a second tunic.
In today’s society, we obviously would not be able to evangelize people very well that way. We need to meet people where they are. There are, of course, religious orders of beggars, but they serve a very unique roll in the Church, and (as far as I’m aware) there are presently no religious orders who own nothing but the clothes on their back (and a walking stick).

The time for me to enter seminary is drawing near. I have just a few more things to take care of before I begin, none of which are directly related to the diocese. Please pray for me, that these final things may go smoothly, that I may adjust to seminary well, and that I may be a worthy seminarian of God.

Saint Francis caught my attention when I was a younger man.
I LOVED reading biographies about him, esp. outside in the summer.
If I’m not mistaken…that sermon you quoted …he too heard the same one at church -
And decided right there and then God was telling him - to do just that !
Till he died - at age 44.

Maybe God is telling you - not to bring too much with you -
Ah - detachment !
Take no thought for what you will wear or eat…etc…

Anyways. That must of been a fun and interesting dinner - with everyone !

Cajun, I love it, I really do, but I have notifications on for this thread hoping the OP will respond, and every time you post a picture, I think it’s the OP.

Could you maybe make a new thread?

It’s too bad we don’t see this depiction of priests from Hollywood today:

And had to share this adorable picture of my nephew today:

Maybe you can ask the OP to be sure and tag you by name when he responds or to pm you…I know you guys were talking about the seminary stuff.

Just an idea.

I’m kidding. 😉 I knew that was for Cajun.

I had so much grace over this weekend to prayer for priests with much love. Then I found out on Monday that our diocese was bringing a whole new batch of seminarians into the priesthood that evening!

Thanks for posting this Cajun Joy65. I’m looking forward to sharing it. May God bless our priests and our future priests.
Amen.

Continuing to check your thread for updates and following your progress. Please pray for me.
