Bernie:

According to Robbyn29 with Msgr Hebert as administrator of the diocese- things have been fairly smooth. How do you see it any differently presuming you are in the DLR. Just curious.

That particular blogger is associated with Busted Halo, here is the link of the http://www.catholicculture.org/reviews/view.cfm?recnum=3618&repos=2&subrepos=&searchid=221797"]review of Busted Halo Website
at Catholic Culture.

Dear Bernie:

Ever hear of cell phones? I imagine one of Whispers contacts sent him what was going on while he/she was there at the conference. This blogger has deep contacts ( both in US and Vatican) and knows what is about to happen long before it is made public. He has been interviewed by many different people and is a personal friend of Archbishop Chaput. And he isn’t negative on the Church, quite the contrary. He loves the Church and everything about her. He is encouraging every one to go to their pastors all over the US and ask them to ring their bells at 4 PM EDT to welcome the Pope to the US next Tuesday. And he isn’t associated with Busted Halo. I checked the Catholic Culture site, they have nothing on his blogsite either positive or negative. In otherwords, he’s never been reviewed. Busted Halo may have
him on a side bar as a blog site, which I have not checked, but please if you have facts to disprove the above, please let bring them forth.

I’m sorry, but for the fact he post his association with Busted Halo on his blog, which is highly unorthodox (Busted Halo that is, I haven’t read enough of his blog to make such a statement), and him slipping in such an editorial comment, in my eyes makes his comments suspect. Besides I have personal friends which work in the St. John’s Diocese Center, who were there, I am yet to hear from any of them of any such thing. There is great excitment in the air about our new Bishop-elect. I not trying to scandalize the Blogger, but it appears the blogger is trying to scandalize either our Diocese, our Bishop-elect, or create comflict with such an unproven observation, IMHO.

I didn’t say things weren’t or haven’t been going smooth, just some things get put on hold, new projects, ministries, etc. Msgr Hebert himself is ready for his time as administrator to come to end. He is a good man, but he is not the Bishop.

Frankly, I thought the whole episode with the Koman Foundation was a little embarrassing. I suspect, in the end, M.Hebert got it wrong and it looked like he caved to outside pressure.

I’ve always respected him, though. He was great to me when I went to him for Confession after over 20 years away.

Also, indications are there’s been a lack of orthodoxy in the Bishop’s office if not in the Bishop’s Chair, IMHO.

Thank you SO MUCH. I’m encouraged and full of hope for our wounded diocese.

Welcome, Bishop Taylor!
Father Taylor is a priest at the Okarche church in OK (here’s a link holytrinityok.org/index.htm), which is not my parish but is close to me. My priest announced that Father Taylor has been chosen to become the bishop of Little Rock, and that the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City will have a hard time replacing him because he has been involved in so many things and has done so much it will take more than one priest to replace him!🙂 I think your diocese will be thrilled with your new bishop. Congratulations to you and to Father Taylor!

Yes, we in NW Arkansas are hoping for a Catholic High School, but haven’t been able to act without a bishop. Also, maybe we’ll see a little more control over the liturgy? I know he’ll need some time to settle in, but I’m hoping…

I just wanted to clarify about the (Pontifical) North American College. It is the residence for US students of the various pontifical universities in Rome. They typically actually study at the Gregorium or Angelicum.
David,

Yes, thanks for the clarification. He studied at the Gregorium - Biblical Theology.

Dear Bernie:

Does this sound like someone who is trying to scandalize " your bishop, your diocese, etc."?

“The beauty of any faith, but especially this one, is that it isn’t something we make or alter on our own or by consensus. No matter where we find ourselves in the billion-plus Catholic fold, none of us are its masters. If this is news to you, that’s understandable: the Church of today has done an abysmal job of presenting this message, but that doesn’t change the fact that our task is to be the stewards of something handed on to us—a Tradition so important we use a capital “T” for it. As it’s given to us, we’re responsible to pass it on to those who come after us, intact at its core and stronger and purer than we found it.”

And this was found on busted halo’s sight.

It appears we have a good one in Lansing… God willing.

Maybe Bishop Vigeron will be assigned back to Detroiit ??? That would be a big WOW!!
Oh no! He is SOOOOOOOOO needed on the West Coast!!!

It is good to hear that he is recognized for the man of God whom he is. He would be a reason I might vote for cloning:D

Bishop Vasa is another we would love to have. For now we (Lansing Diocese which is next to Detroit Diocese) await our new bishop’s installation this month. Please pray that Bishop Boyea is given the strength and patience to lead us without compromise.

Lead without compromise? I didn’t realize you’ve been a apologist praying for a dictator.

Leave it to frommi to bring in the goofyness.

Yes without compromise. The Bishop who sticks to the Truth will do just that…lead without compromise…

Let’s see now. Saginaw has a good bishop who speaks the truth and upsets frommi. Lansing is getting a new bishop whom many say will do the same.

And there are some wonderful rumors circulating about B16 appointing a new shephers to replace the retired Maida in Detroit.

Life is good frommi, life is good.

Your dictator observation is simply the off-base norm for you… but it does yield lots of 😃 .

Odd…I lived in both of those dioceses and never recall a bishop who didn’t speak the truth.

Sorry you felt lied to.

I too have heard the rumors about Bishop Vigneron perhaps returning to Detroit. But I would hope he would be given more of a chance where he currently is. His particular background seems to make him a good person to deal with the situation there more completely first.

He does, on the other hand, have the background one might expect for the next Archbishop of Detroit.

As with all future appointments, we’ll know when the Holy Father decides and lets us know. 🙂

Fordham, from what I’ve read on other strands, sounds good, in spite of the Jesuit association!

All you good Jesuits out there, please accept my apology for this statement. It was (rightly) brought to my attention that it was inconsiderate of the Jesuit priests that are orthodox at Fordham.

Hoping and praying they are just that - rumors. We need him here.

  • Bishop-elect James Douglas Conley was named Auxiliary Bishop of Denver, Colorado
James Conley converted to the Catholic Faith at age 20 during his junior year at the University of Kansas. He was a student of the KU Integrated Humanties Program–a great books program–which he says introduced him to goodness, truth, and beauty for the first time. (shouldn’t all universities do that?)

His pursuit of goodness, truth, and beauty led him ultimately into the Catholic Church. His parents, who were not Catholic, were not thrilled by this, but fully supported his decision. Some years later, he received them also into the Catholic Church.
