US Catholic hierarchy shows support for legislation requiring massive tax hike [CWN]

The USCCB had approved of a new morality in voting during the last election cycle which included the following:The Faithful Citizenship statement concludes with a "call for a renewed kind of politics:

o Focused more on moral principles than on the latest polls;
o Focused more on the needs of the weak than on benefits for the strong;
o Focused more on the pursuit of the common good than on the demands of narrow interests.

Moral principles and the common good are hardly pursued when this entire thing is a hoax -at the very least, unproven science, which any objective economist or political observer will tell you hurts the weak and benefits the strong.

Supporting these UN driven politics (The agency which includes anti-Catholic abortion and contraception policy) can only be interference in those areas the Catechism tells us belongs to the realm of the voter’s conscience.

That Bishops speak out committed to particular legislation without having opportunity to have read, nevermind understood, is hardly a "well formed conscience, but sheer politics.

Their expertese in this highly debatable and heavy political area is to be seriously doubted by reasonable well-meaning people. This GW stuff is not about being good stewards as much as it is eco-worship.

I am heartsick that any of the US bishops would support such a horrible bill, and it’s not just out of fear tht my cost of living will rise because of it. I’m heartsick because they seem to be so easily conned into such far leftist ideas on the mistaken belief that they help the poor. The whole theory of global warming, the basis for “cap and trade,” is unproven. Many, many scientists who have no grant monies tied to global warming refute the whole global warming premise. Many of those scientists are silenced. If they do speak out, their very jobs are in jeopardy. Why do the Catholic bishops fall so easily for the schemes of the far left? The far left, after all, disparages belief in God, the worth of the individual, the right to own property, etc., all of which are Christian principles. As someone once said, liberalism dominates over everything in the minds of liberals–even Christian morality and common sense.

Yes, just because two leaders sign onto board doesn’t mean the entire USCCB will do so. There are at least 250 Catholic bishops, and even though 56 of them took a stand against President Obama’s speech at Notre Dame, this didn’t mean that the entire USCCB took a stand against Obama’s speech.

The USCCB is a largely liberal bureaucracy that does not necessarily reflect the views of the majority of bishops. Remember that it was going to give ACORN a million dollars last summer, and only reneged (if it truly did) when it was revealed that the brother of the head of ACORN stole a million dollars from the organization.

Frankly, with seminaries and convents in the third world turning away candidates for lack of funds, and with mothers in Africa dying sooner than they might from HIV due to a lack of drugs, and with Catholic schools everywhere suffering from lack of funds, USCCB’s intended donation of a million dollars to ACORN is, to me, unforgiveable, and makes me doubt every single thing that ever comes from that organization.

Someday, perhaps, bishops who have their hearts in the right place will have enough numbers and willpower to clean the place up. Until then, it has no claim on credibility for me, whatever.

If you research history, Liberation Theology resulted in Jesuits taking up arms in Nicaragua and instigating Catholic crowds to boo JPll when he visited, because he stopped the game of “heaven on earth through Marxism.” Many of the major orders, turned their faith to worldly solutions -“the preferential option for the poor”- replaced prayer and the understanding that “the poor will be with you always.”

Offering the state as a solution - little more than any other leftist group, under the false god of equality in outcome, still permeates the Church and too many of the bishops, I’m afraid. Some wink at homosexuality, the right to property (charity without something to give?) marriage, contraception and even stay silent to the slaughter of innocent life, while undermining for decades, true catechesis, etc. In short, there is little Catholic faith in too many - causing the Cafeteria Catholic effect, where 52% of Catholics think they can support a president that openly and aggressively advocates infanticide, not to mention many Marxist (atheist) tendencies.

Have hope - God hand picked Judas and the Church survived and thrived because of it. Pray for them.

Imagine how important we are since the perfect being created us from His very being and said we are VERY good.
