What nonsense! There’s no effect from lack of oxygen until you are above 10,000 ft.

But, Gore should have manned up and just said, “The President didn’t do well in last night’s debate, but he will win the rest of the debates.” No excuses there, and confidence in the future ones. 🤷
What if he isn’t confident? 😉

Exactly, although Romney is now back in the game.
That much is true. What the future debates hold is a definite unknown. I still think it is a close race, but his win will make my betting partner sweat a little bit. 😃

The man’s 67 yrs old, and over the past few months has an extremely poor track record for being inarticulate and has also made dreadful faux pas on several issues as well as not being too fluent. My observation was based upon Romney’s performance, to date.
Wait a minute. First of all, I believe Romney is 65, not 67; but regardless, that’s not old nowadays, even for being POTUS. Although I don’t support Romney, I kind of liked the idea that a 60+ year-old man can hold his own against a 50-year-old young whipper-snapper.

I have heard that the Obama tax increases won’t be enough to make a huge difference. My belief is that Obama is willing to cut quite a bit more if he can get the GOP to agree to let he Bush tax cuts expire. This way, the painful cuts will be psychologically more palatable to those who will suffer because of them. People call Obama divisive, but I think this is his way of making the painful process seem more fair to the poor & middle class by asking the wealthy to contribute something more as well. Otherwise, we may very well have real class warfare on our hands.

I also don’t think the tax increases will cripple the economy. People aren’t going to stop investing and making money just because their profit margin has been reduced a little bit. If there is demand - there will be investment.
Obama’s own debt commission says his tax rates for high earners are way too high. If you notice, the rates that Romney and Ryan are recommending at 28%, which is exactly at the top end of the range recommended by the bipartisan debt commission that Obama himself put together.

Obama does not have the benefit of the dot-com bubble to create a whole bunch of new millionaires out of thin air the way that Clinton did. The CBO scores his plan as dramatically adding to the debt. Obama’s budgets have been overwhelmingly opposed by both parties and he can’t get anyone to vote for them.

In short, his plan stinks.

It is unseemly, IMHO, for people who aren’t Americans to comment on our politics. Our policies? Fair game. But not our politics/politicians. And yes, I include Obama in that statement. I don’t put my nose into Irish politics (whatever they are).

That accusation comes very close to slander, at the very least. You need to retract your statement and apologize.
I wouldn’t care less, it would be your opinion of men/women who place themselves in the public eye and that’s their choice. I am sure there are many Americans that discuss other country’s politicians, for example, in Israel, Middle east or wherever. I also have relatives in the USA and we discuss the merits or otherwise of politicians in both our countries.

Your observation was based on nothing and is entirely unfounded. If you knew anything about how sympathomimetic drugs actually work, how they affect performance, and what research actually says regarding their use in the manners in which you are suggesting, then you would have never made the statements you did.

Its time to issue a retraction now.
👍

It’s an opinion that’s all, I do not have to retract it. Plenty of students (online) highlight there use of such medications to help them through final exams due to the reasons of increased cognitive function, recall, etc., for exam papers. The drugs used are usually Ritalin and Adderall, which are amphetamines.

And still you double down on your accusations?

Obama will be different in the next rounds as well.
He will look at Romney.
He will grin a lot.
He won’t look down all the time, he’ll do his “chin in the air” thing.
He’ll blow out a ton of sound byte assertions, mostly bogus, that Romney won’t have time to answer.
He’ll have at least one really nasty remark in each debate, to bolster his faithful.
He’ll run against George Bush more than he did in this debate.

He’ll be different. Mark my words. Never, ever underestimate a chameleon’s ability to change color.
Too, I suppose he may employ his oft-used and condescending “Let me be clear” phrase, which I find to be particularly annoying.

As you are Catholic, I suggest you look up bearing false witness. Then gossip. Then slandering one’s character. Then politeness.
How am I slandering someone’s character, or bearing false witness? IT IS MY OPINION! As you will note in the news release, I posted, numerous ‘young’ students take these drugs to help increase their recall, and cognitive function so as to get great marks in their exams. It is not a ‘slanderous’ action to take such a drug.

Or the GOP is principled.

Whereas the Democrat Party seems to pander, immigration, same sex marriage and so on.

As you are asserting, they should change on principles.

We may need immigration reform but this is a delicate area, it really is. We shouldn’t just okay illegal immigration.
No, what I’m saying is that the Democratic party is demographically more similar to the American population than the GOP and current trends suggest that this discrepancy is just going to get worse as time goes by - unless something changes.

Romney’s message over the course of the campaign wasn’t winning over many young, female or minority voters. Will his debate performance change that? I am waiting to see the polls.

Yes, and they don’t work in that fashion. They are not one time things, but used repeatedly while studying and prepping to help during that process and then again during the test/performance. Training in one environment and testing in another is a recipe for bad performance. One needs similar states of arousal to have any beneficial affect. Therefore, if Romney had used them, to get any positive effect, he would have needed to be using them for the past months.

Your observations are a joke and completely unfounded by knowledge or even reality of how the human body functions in response to sympathomimetic drugs.

Right, the GOP isn’t pandering.

And they should not be fearful of demographics.

You are in fact, using a sort of race card bringing in demographics.

Those demographics won’t be of much help if our country ends up with Greece-like problems.

And you made this about someone who is 67 years old, so you are saying I could make references to say someone’s skin color and if they put in a good debate, I could say, “well, I think maybe they were using some stimulants for their good performance.”
