US servicewomen challenge combat role ban

I recall reading how the Israeli Defense Force quit allowing women to serve combat roles. One of the reasons they did it was that they found the women were much more likely to be abusive toward prisoners than the men. Perhaps knowing what their fate would be if the situation was reversed, the women took it out on them.

I doubt that was the only reason, but it was one of them.

There are of course more men in the services and more incentives for men to complete the programme.

If only two women volunteer for a programme with a high drop-out rate, it’s neither surprising that both drop out nor enough to argue from that result that women are incapable of completing it.
Which is why I used a ratio statement.

Actually, the reason was that the men where dropping out of the fight to help aid women.

Also, when the Egyptians learned that there were women fighting against them, they fought harder.

Nothing like free sex, even if it’s rape, to motivate a soldier without moral convictions.

Those are important points. How is a man going to fight when he is fighting alongside women? Will he do what he should or will the woman affect how he behaves? It would be naive to say that men wont alter their behavior if there are women around. And if they do that destroys the cohesiveness as you mentioned above.

The bigger point is while they were helping the women, who did the women help?

US military officers need combat experience in order to further their careers. Without it, they can only progress so far. This is why they want to be able to get combat experience.
You would think that only Army and Marine infantry officers get promoted. Even if every Marine is said to be a rifleman very few, and they have the greatest percentage, serve in an infantry company a tank company/cavalry troop or a cannon firing artllery battery

If is the big question;) do you honestly think females are physically stronger than men? there are numerous facts that prove them not to be.Sorry to say women are literally in another league in the sports world, they simply can not compete with men.In hand to hand combat women do not have much of a chance.Do you have any combat experience? how about you volunteer;) I am a veteran, fourteen years of service.Women have different types of qualities that are of benefit to the armed forces.Sorry, the flat fact is women can not match up to the same intense standards as men, why do you think they have different boot camps?
I’m sorry, but in which branch did you have different boot camps for men and women? I’m currently serving in Afghanistan, and served as a staff member at the Marine Corps Combat Training Battalion, and every class I pushed was mixed. Furthermore, I went to boot camp, and specifically recall seeing members of both sexes present. I have also been involved in more than one firefight with a female on our side of the fight. In each situation, the female was equally as effective as the males. IF you were in the service, I’m guessing it was in a non-infantry role, because you clearly seem to believe that there is A LOT more hand to hand combat occurring than there is in reality.

I don’t think it was the opportunity to rape and pillage on the front lines and not wait until the local town which would be captured that made Egyptian soldiers fight harder.Culturally they could honorably surrender to a man but not to a woman

It was both.

Rape of the enemy’s women is also a way of humiliating the defeated…

A society which sends women into combat is a society that is upside down. It is the logic of liberalism which says that in the name of feminism and equal rights women should “get to” fight in combat. Such a view is against nature - like so many liberal views.

Here is the awesomeness of feminism.

The women can have the babies, go to work, make all the money, and now, let them do all the fighting. I can stay home and play World of Warcraft in my jammies.
