Maybe this incident and that child’s courage and his gracious attitude will cause Mormons and others in that area to get interested in Catholicism.

I pray you are right but it is hard to see that happening in Utah.

Have you ever lived in Utah or any other predominantly LDS area? I have and this is not surprising at all. I bet this happens frequently and just doesn’t get reported.

Why should this child have to hide his faith when more than 80% to 90% are encouraged to flaunt theirs?

Try not to fill their heads with such demeaning ideas about those little “ prisoners” and their “ prison guards” in public school.
As for the “ prison guards” I remember, they made our newly arrived kids who didn t master the language as native speakers, love and learn so much and so well what and who surrounded them, that their experience while at school was unforgettably dear to them.
They could integrate very well and were lovingly included . Their skills and abilities were soon spotted and encouraged. And they developed into respectful little creatures in a foreign society not because they were scared, but because they learnt to love it.
And as for the outcome, maybe Engineering, Business Administration and Pshycology to begin with, do they tell you something ? Or is the academic level too low there that those are not enough nor representative ?
I do not think your posts represent the homeschool couple of parents I know fortunately. They couldn’t be further from that ilk and leaving that sour sense in our mouths that our little “ prisoners” are contagious.
Thank you, “ prison guards” btw, you couldn’t t have been more loving…from the bottom of my heart: thank you…

It is Ash Wednesday, and she gives the kid apology candy!

the state school prisons.
don’t complain when they get treated poorly. You’re just asking for it.
the state prison systems.
My kids don’t learn about sex in the locker rooms and sleep overs. They don’t learn about smoking, drinking and drugs from classmates. They don’t have vaccinations. They don’t blindly follow State authority.
idiot power tripping teachers and administrators.
If you send your kids to prison, expect them to be treated like prisoners.
Okay. I’ll call them indoctrination camps where you check your freedoms at the door.
As someone who went to public schools, worked in schools, am married to a public school teacher and have 2 kids in public schools…I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about. Have you ever been to a public school?

Just consider the source…

It a sort of “Americanized” attitude towards the big bad state.

I used to have kids in public school. I am the product of public schools.

I am sorry your experience was so bad. I loved school. It opened up a world where I met people of all different backgrounds, learned to defend my faith and many things my parents could not have taught me.

It’s prison, whether you are able to admit it or not.

Have you had any contact or experience related to jail or prison to be so conclusive?
You are free not to answer. But please think of it…
Or maybe… just having a bad day. ?
It happens…

Warped is not the word I would use. I would say it’s generally evil. And for the reasons I already said.

Now… if you want to answer…
Are you having a bad day?
Because it happens… it really sounds like you must remember something good about school…I mean , we all do… at least something…
