Vaccines are also a public health matter. Not just for the children. The state recognizes that.
True.
But I am not sure the court is looking at “public” health in favor of the health and rights of this specifically involved.

Thank you. They are very smart kids. None of them plan on vaccinating their kids either.

This is a tough situation for you and your children.

However, the good news is that 3/4 of children follow their father’s faith :slight_sSremio:And their going to P.S. will be an opportunity for you to teach them to live in the wider world. I know they seem young, but you can make this work.

First, never, ever show bitterness towards your wife or say anything against her. Sujpprt her if they complain to you (Mom makes us clean our rooms–your mother is right, you should clean your room.) Always help them to respect her, even when you do not agree with her. If possible, work with her on discipline issues now, so that the two of you will have a basis from which to work should something serious come up. You two are going to have to work together for a long time, might as well set up a good foundation.

Live a good Catholic.life, help your boys too also, make it fun!!! Not like more schoolwork, and teach them the stories from the Bible and saints lives, and teach them to apply the stories. (This problem remnds me of the story of …) Express admiration for the virtues exhibited.

Love them, and love their mother–include her in your prayers, especially with them, and remind them how important it is for them to pray for her–not in a condemning way (yeah, we have to pray a lot for Mom) but because she is their mother. Encourage them to pray when they are with her as well and to examine their consciences each night. (I like the 1r rules of spiritual discernment for this, by St Ignatius of Loyola) (Here is info in podcasts)

What would be the point of the school having a law if all it took was a waiver to get around it though?

Please does everything have to be about stem cells or abortion?
Yes. That is the CAF corollary to Godwin’s Law. Everything is abortion.
The issue would be doing a medical procedure against the expressed wishes of the other parent.
That is not a legal problem. The legal issue doctors have is when the procedure is invasive. For normal medical practices, all that is needed is the parental permission of one parent.

You do not seem to object to the withholding of needed, ordinary, and standard medical care against the wishes of one parent.

That is a good point, though the places I know allow a waiver for those real, that is objective, reasons, like immune deficiency.

I get that people have true reasons, but there are consequences to our choices. Schools cannot micromanage people’s reasons for why they don’t get their kids vaccinated. Their policy needs to be followed by everyone.

I object to putting the custody rights at risk.
The state seems to place value on this religious objection. Therefore the violation of this may entail consequences.

Please give me one. [reason for not vaccinating]
Actually there is one. A very few people have an immune system disorder that makes vaccines very dangerous to them. These few people are protected by the “herd immunity” afforded by all the normally healthy people who can be vaccinated. All the more reason for those who can be vaccinated to do so.

A very “pro-life” reason.

But it’s nice that we still have a choice so that those who choose not to vaccinate don’t have to!

I don’t think the people who have had sick babies or dead babies as a a result of catching a nasty illness from an unvaccinated child in their community thinks it is very nice.

Doesn’t seem very pro-life, to me.

Just saying.

But that is not the issue here. Here, one parent wants to protect his child. One is objecting. Therefore, joint custody or not, the reality is one parent will be exerting their will in this matter against the will of another. One party’s choice must be denied.

You are correct. I think it’s one of those things that a couple ought to agree on before having children. It would avoid messes like this.

Yeah. The same could be said about the babies who died because of the vaccinations.

I would think staying married would be the first thing to agree upon.

A word of warning to those facing divorce. If the marriage is difficult, the divorce will be ten times worse. It best be a compelling reason, that is unavoidable.

Here is an article discussing the source of vaccines. As it points out, there are alternatives that are based on animal cells (which I guess freak out the vegetarians and vegans).

I will just pray that the children of anti-vaxxers do not get the diseases and that if they do, that they don’t suffer any of the bad life long side effects.

I know many parents that would love to have that available to them.

How about some being made from the stem cells of aborted children?
Do you have any links you can provide that give medical proof of this? CDC, WebMD, Mayo Clinic or any other reliable medical website?
