Vaccines Required for Catholic School

You need to talk to an infectious disease specialist or an epidemiologist for the precise risk (preferably both). I am not one of them.
So you really do not know?
Without an understanding of the risks involved, how can you claim them to be serious?

The odds may be small, but they are growing. In 2000, the US was declared measles-free. So far this year, there have been over 1,100 cases reported.

Measles is extremely contagious and thus easily caught.

Of course, one could avoid the many things which increase your chances of getting it, such as travel. And just hope it doesn’t come your way.

Or we could all pressure the pharmaceutical companies to make available vaccines that are not in any way related to aborted children.

This would seem the more life affirming option.

Well, I don’t want to argue with you about a personal decision, since I am talking about general principles.

I would not allow threats or possibilities prevent you from doing what is right - Catholic school or not.
  1. How many threats have been vocalized, yet never came to pass? They are an attempt to control you.
  2. Possibilities include virtually everything. Citing, or allowing possibilities to enter into a decision-making process introduces a potential, but not a reality.
We are talking both the spiritual and physical health of your children as well as those around them. I would think that if vaccination is not specifically mentioned, or prohibited by any existing legal documents, then you are free to choose.

Consult with priest.
Consult with attorney.

Because those that do know say that it is serious enough to warrant the small risk of vaccination.

I think the problem will be somewhat self-limiting. As more children die, the awareness of the danger will increase and vaccinations will resume. It is regretable that some who die will be those children with immune deficiencies that rely on the vaccinations given to healthy children. That is the way humanity works though. Our poor decisions often will have consequences for others in our society through no fault of their own. We are interconnected.

Especially any immune-compromised people in the area.
Odds?
Like I asked before, the claim is that this is a serious issue. But all I have seen is a single news article from a very suspect source.

How serious exactly?
What exactly are the statistics?

How’s this source for you?
I asked for odds.
The response is unrelated.

From your source “This paper evaluates and reviews the origins of the anti-vaccination movement, the reasons behind the recent strengthening of the movement, role of the internet in the spread of anti-vaccination ideas, and the repercussions in terms of public health and safety.”

Asking again…odds?
