I didn’t. The hierarchy did.😛
In 1954 it was politically correct for seminary authorities to look hard at a young man’s sexual orientation 15 years later it was politically correct to be “open” to “new expressions.” And 30 years later, in many Catholic seminaries and dioceses, it was positively retrograde to disapprove of homosexuality or to acknowledge its ties to pederasty. The homosexual movement has been very successful at removing the sensitivity and stigma formerly associated with non-heterosexual attractions. The whole sexual liberation movement, hetero as well as homo, has expertly manipulated public opinion for close to half a century. People are so afraid of “judge not, lest ye be judged” that they feel they must tolerate anything.

Do you really have anything against homosexual attraction alone? Is it causing anyone harm? Would you like us to lock them all up in mental institutions until they are heterosexually attracted?

We should scorn homosexual attraction like we scorn anger or a propensity to lust, steal or commit any other sin.

The inclination to sin is something to detest!
Just like the inclination to follow Christ and His Church is a blessing!

My anger causes me harm - but don’t lock me up for it. Likewise I’m not asking for homosexuals to be locked up, but rather, for them to control their sinful tendancies like i desperatly try to control my sinful tendencies.

Then we should scorn heterosexual attraction as well.

Christ is in our midst.

I, like goofyjim, can speak from experience when it comes to SSA. Two months ago today, I was finally overcome that particular demon in my life, as I have posted about elsewhere on this Forum (forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=180347, forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=191472))).

I thank God for the strength and the courage He gave me to do that.

SSA is correctly characterized as intrinsically disordered; not sinful in and of itself, but disordered by its very nature. Living chastely despite my experience with SSA, at least for me, has not been difficult at all, but I credit constant prayer and the intercession of the Theotokos for that. However, I’ve come to also see others who suffer from a far stronger degree of SSA than I ever did. For those, living with that cross is far more difficult and truly a daily, or even hourly, struggle against temptation.

Those with SSA ***certainly ***do not need television commercials such as this one, which falsely suggests that: (1) homosexuality is entirely innate; and (2) anything innate is to be celebrated and acted upon. Neither is correct.

Instead, we need prayers. We also need to get the word out that it is truly possible to be chaste while carrying this cross and living a life that glorifies God.

He is and shall be.

From ANSA:The Vatican added its voice on Wednesday to a wave of protests over the use of a newborn baby in a publicity campaign to combat anti-gay discrimination.

As a key part of its campaign, the regional government of Tuscany plans to use a photo of a baby whose hospital identity bracelet bears the French word Homosexuel.

The caption on the photo, which is soon expected to appear in poster form on billboards all over Tuscany, says: “Sexual orientation is not a choice”. “Doing a publicity campaign like this is not a good idea. This is a bit strange. They shouldn’t have gone that far,” said Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State.
The Vatican is a strong voice against the culture of death.
