Vatican blocks Caroline Kennedy appointment as US ambassador

I suspect this president is going to have a very hard fall…God is not mocked

It might be more likely to suspect that the Catholics who chose to vote Obama into office will have a much harder fall. Obama was raised with NO faith at all by a mother and her parents, all of whom were FORMER Christians.

As for his many Catholic supporters, what might explain/excuse their support of him?

I agree Catarina, Mr. Obama does not seem to have any faith at all. One never sees anything in the news about he and his family attending church service on Sunday and that had previously been a favorite press opportunity.

I am surprised because just a block or so from the White House is a pre-eminent African American church where most of the elite in that Washington community have attended, as well as most of the African American politicans.

It appears that Mr. Obama’s daughters will also be raised in a faithless environment.

I think he had some sort of contact with Cathocism growing up. He might have attended a Catholic school…He carries a miraculous medal in his pocket, which I find very strange considering out Mother would never approve of abortion…Perhaps he thinks its a lucky piece which I find insulting

I hope this is true; ANY Kennedy would be a poor choice. While they are held up by the media as a “Catholic” family, I don’t know that there is a single one who is pro-life.

I don’t think that Caroline is especially suited to being an Ambassador to the Vatican, but Kerry Kennedy might be. And the fact is that Mrs Shriver is one of the most tireless Catholics that I have ever experienced.
Judging an entire family on the few who are celebrities isn’t fair in my opinion.

Although it’s interesting to think of who a good ambassador would be for the Vatican, since
it’s not really a place that’s known for being at odds with America I can’t see the need of an Ambassador there anyway.

Caroline would do well as an Ambassador to Ireland.

To be fair, he and family attended St. John’s in D.C. on Easter Sunday. Maybe he’s an E-C Christian? Catholics shouldn’t have the monopoly on that one.

I supported him because I am an American and I was not raised to see my country through
theocratic eyes.
I’ll leave that to the Muslim countries and be grateful everyday that we live like that!
I am proud of how he’s doing and I support him so far.
As for the Vatican ambassador, I’m sure he’ll come up with someone who will meet the qualifications but will still be ALL WRONG in the eyes of the haters.

Yes, they are looking for a Church that will meet their spiritual needs, and I agree that
C&E Catholics certainly abound in some areas, especially my own.
Mass is overloaded on Easter Sunday but the next week things are back to normal.
I heard Pat Buchanan say that in the fifties 75 percent of Catholics attended Mass,
but now that’s down to 25 percent. I attribute that to the lack of charity that some
Catholics have no shame in displaying.
Obama has stated that he is a Christian, it’s not up to me to count out his sins, I’ll leave that up to God and worry about my own.
And I read that another poster actually alluded to the fact that he could have found an
African American Church which I found deeply offensive. The best thing about the Catholic Church is that it embraces ALL people.

I’m sure some have been met with lack of charity. I can think of a few times I’ve been uncharitable leaving the parking lot, but I keep going back to the sacraments in the hopes of becoming more virtuous.

My guess, having worked in youth ministry, is the culture of materialims, individualims, and do-what-feels-goodism that has permeated our society and that of Europe. We probably see less of a trend in Africa, but I don’t have any statistics, so don’t quote me.
