Yeah, right. Your prior respect was well known.
Gosh K2 I thought we were giving you up for Lent. Since you claim to know everything about me (and do not) I’ll let you in on a little secret. The only thing I knew about Kerry before he ran for President was that he was a war protestor and married the catsup heiress. I knew nothing about his policies. It was when I heard he voted against PBA ban that any interest I had in considering him for a vote was over. Anyone who votes to allow a healthy child’s skull to be pierced and have it dragged out after it dies is beyond hope of reason.

Oh, I see. Only what a person says matters, not what he does.
While the cardinal didn’t address that question, I would also say anyone who performs an abortion also should not be going to communion.

Yes he did,the personally opposed rhetoric doesn’t wash anymore! When you support abortion “rights” and vote such you support abortion.

Well, that person could receive Communion if they went to confession with a contrite heart and resolved not to kill anymore. I try to believe there’s hope for everyone to turn their life around, even the abortionist (as unlikely as that may be it seems).

Then it was shamefull that EWTN edited out that portion of this remarks.

Nice job Lisa… but K2 didn’t get it, and still doesn’t.

You love spinning webs don’t you?😦 If you support abortion"rights" and you vote to keep abortion legal it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that your pro-abortion.

Yet some people (not me) take that position. And the Cardinal used his words carefully to dodge that well know (though faulty, in my view) position. He could have addressed it directly; he did not.

If the cardinal does believe this, he may want to talk to his boss, and tell him to stop giving communion to pro-choice politicans.

That is rediculous,he dodged nothing.Listen,Katherine I could say I don’t believe in killing children, but if I gave a child killer a knife and a child I am just as responsible as the murderer.

I think it was quite clear that Cardinal Arinze was not limiting his comments to those who are actually involved in the abortion industry. He stated anyone who is “for abortion yesterday, today and tomorrow” is not to be given communion. Since Kerry is clearly in favor of abortion based on his votes not his disingenuious rhetoric, he would fall right into the Cardinal’s group of non-communicants…

Go back and read the Cardinal’s comments. You put text in quotes but that doesn’t appear in the cardinal’s statement. Are you just making things up?

And, of course, what about the fact the Pope gives communion to pro-choice politicans?

When and where Katherine?Where do you find this fact about the Pope?

Didn’t we have a long thread on this?

Anyway, John Paul II has personally given communion to Francesco Rutelli, a practicing Catholic and a center-left candidate for Prime Minister of Italy. Rutelli had been, as a member of the Radical Party, one of the most active supporters of Italy’s abortion law, which is among the most permissive in the world. And he continued, as a Catholic, to maintain publicly “pro-choice” positions.

You can see this on videotape if you get a copy of the film of the closing mass for the Jubliee Year.

If we have I have never seen it.
I amended by post with the facts pertaining to once instance. There have been many others, but we can focus on this.

I am devistated and going to look for the thread right now:crying: To think our wonderful Pope would let the man commit a sacrilige is unthinkable and I do not want to believe this at all.Maybe he did not realise who it was.

.Maybe he did not realise who it was.
  1. At papal Masses, those receiving from the pope are not just some tourists who happend to sit in a lucky pew. They are carefully chosen and vetted, for security as well as other reasons.
  2. The Pope is not an idiot. He reads dozens of newspapers every day. As bishop of Rome and Primate of Italy, he knows what’s going on in Italian politics.
  3. Rutelli was the “John Kerry” of Italy – the center-left’s candidate for leader of the country. Not an obscure politican from the countryside.
Having said that, Catholics might respectfully disagree with the Pope on this matter. I am not one of those Catholics, but I respect others so long as they keep their views respectful towards our beloved Holy Father.
