It’s presumptuous, offensive, and disrespectful of the Mormon religion to expect the Roman Catholic Church, or any other religious body (or anyone, for that matter) to provide them with the names of our faithful departed, so the Mormon religion can perform their own rituals.
It’s true they will get the names through public databases, but there is no reason for the RCC (or anyone else) to passively aid them in a practice which not only goes against our own beliefs, but is deceptive in nature.
And, as I already mentioned, it’s also dishonest of the Mormons when they don’t admit their intentions on their genealogy websites. The reason they don’t practice full disclosure is pretty obvious. People would balk at giving them information.
As a side note: The Mormons have closed off the database which holds the names of those whom the Mormons have already performed posthumous rituals on. It’s only open to Mormons, now.
Consequently, there is no way for non-Mormons to find out if these rituals have been performed, using the names of our family members. Even if we know these rituals have taken place (as I do with my family members), we can’t get the records to have the names removed. Their claim is we’re not entitled to them. They closed the database about a year or so ago.
So, their complaints of singling out Mormons for unfair treatment and their cries of discrimination are pretty darned hypocritical, IMO.
