NEVER? NEVER in 40 years? methinks there must be a tad of exaggeration here…
Just as I stated —Never. I would know —you would not. Now by exaggeration – are you saying I am not being truthful.

You could be simply forgetful or it did not make an impression on you at the time. It is not a traumatic event after all.

I can’t say you’re not being truthful, but such a statement can certainly strain credibility.

I base my opinions and posts on years of experience and observation.
Then by your statement --you are making out to be non-credible. It just goes to show to the extent you will go.
You’re not taking into account that Walking Home has his (her?) own variables that are far less likely to change than your sampling! How much has his mouth changed over 40 years? He probably has a “rhythm”, maybe even muscle memory. And maybe he’s been at the same parish, and received Communion from only a handful of different priests, all of whom are particularly careful. There are so many variables in the distrubution of the Blessed Sacrement…sizes and shapes of tongues, lips, and mouths…sizes of hosts used…sizes and shapes of priests hands and fingers…deftness of said hands and fingers…deftness of above mentioned lips, tongues, and mouths…
And, in 40 years of receiving, you have NEVER had your tongue or lips touched by the finger of a priest…you’re certainly an extrordinary Communicant!!

I have no “agenda” on this topic, other than to receive the Blessed Sacrement in a manner that is both appropriate to Church practice and good hygiene.
You have not been observing my every communion for the last 40 years so do not apply your observation to me.
No I am not an extraordinary communican ----more likely some like to blow the touching out of porportion to meet their agenda.
The only ones blowing things out of proportion fall into the ‘it never happened’ group.
And my comment still holds but those of us saying it happens are saying as ‘hey - it happens!’.
I said it has not happened to me — not that it has not happened to someone else — but it would still hold – that the touching is being blown out of proportion.

It is common knowledge, that the mouth is one of the most bacteria-laden parts of the human body.
If the Church allows me to receive Communion by hand rather than by mouth, then I should be able to do so without being cyber scourged by others who refuse to embrace modern Church practices.
In any event, swappin spit with fellow communicants ain’t high on my priority list.
My Pastor is right, I need to get away from this site. Too many Traditional Extremists here, which creates a distorted view of the Catholic Church and Catholic Faith today.
Fortunately, I planned on giving this up for Lent anyway, in favor of Liturgy of the Hours…both as a Lenten observance, and in honor of my late Uncle.
My friend, you said it happened so often that many priests reported it. Which is it? It happens a lot, so much that many priests report it or just that it happens on occasion? And my comment still holds but those of us saying it happens are saying as ‘hey - it happens!’.
It is not traumatic, it is not scandalous - it just sometimes happens.
:nope:
