I base my opinions and posts on years of experience and observation.
There are so many variables in the distrubution of the Blessed Sacrement…sizes and shapes of tongues, lips, and mouths…sizes of hosts used…sizes and shapes of priests hands and fingers…deftness of said hands and fingers…deftness of above mentioned lips, tongues, and mouths…
And, in 40 years of receiving, you have NEVER had your tongue or lips touched by the finger of a priest…you’re certainly an extrordinary Communicant !!

You’re not taking into account that Walking Home has his (her?) own variables that are far less likely to change than your sampling! How much has his mouth changed over 40 years? He probably has a “rhythm”, maybe even muscle memory. And maybe he’s been at the same parish, and received Communion from only a handful of different priests, all of whom are particularly careful.
People are being really obtuse about this. WH says that in 40 years of receiving on the tongue, he has never had a person touch his mouth with their fingers. WH did not say that in 40 years, no priest has ever touched anyone’s mouth, simply that those priests ministering Communion to him have been careful, as has he. Give it a rest, please. I don’t want to enter Lent in an uncharitable mood.

I have no “agenda” on this topic, other than to receive the Blessed Sacrement in a manner that is both appropriate to Church practice and good hygiene.
It is common knowledge, that the mouth is one of the most bacteria-laden parts of the human body.
If the Church allows me to receive Communion by hand rather than by mouth, then I should be able to do so without being cyber scourged by others who refuse to embrace modern Church practices.

My Pastor is right, I need to get away from this site. Too many Traditional Extremists here, which creates a distorted view of the Catholic Church and Catholic Faith today.
Fortunately, I planned on giving this up for Lent anyway, in favor of Liturgy of the Hours…both as a Lenten observance, and in honor of my late Uncle.
