This link created by the European Union (why?)
There is much more to recommending the EU. What keeps alarming anyone that examines the spread of the European Union is the loss of having the ownership of all manner of governance in one’s country. It requires examining information “buried” in volumes of bureaucratic memorandums.
Follow the money and power.
An example of a sub-level layer of regulatory control is the following link:
North South Ministerial Council.org
To put up such discussion of “borders” and “customs” and “control” and identifying the country as the " UK vs the Island " does not bode well.

The Lib Dems weren’t rewarded so much as the Tories were punished.
Well, it’s true the Lib Dems didn’t pick up all the seats the Tories or Labour or UKIP lost (many went Green or Independent), over 500 seats gained (so far) looks like a fair old reward to me.

The North South Ministerial Council is nowt to do with the EU. It was set up by the governments of the UK and the republic under the Good Friday Agreement.

Yup.

An absolute drubbing.

The Tories have lost 1000+ seats, and their gravest adversaries have proven to be - not UKIP - but the insanely and consistently pro-EU Lib Dems, who have won hundreds upon hundreds of seats and are the clear winners, followed by the equally pro-EU Greens who have made many gains as well.

In 2003, in the wake of the invasion of Iraq under Tony Blair, Labour lost 800 seats - which is not anywhere near as bad as this, yet that was in opposition to a war.

You have to go all the way back to 1995 under John Major to get an even remotely comparable loss for a major political party.

To put this in perspective, I wasn’t even in nursery/pre-school yet the last time the conservatives, or any party, lost this badly in a local election.

In a Twitter thread, ITV news’ political correspondent Robert Peston calls this a “Brexit-and-populism earthquake of a once-in-a-century magnitude. And since it has only just started, months and probably years will pass before a stable new landscape is formed.”

And these local elections took place only in non-London England and Northern Ireland. We haven’t even seen what’s going on in Scotland, London or Wales.

The recent by-elections and polling in Wales, FYI, are showing that it has turned Remain/pro-EU now along with Scotland, London and NI.

Are we fully counted now or are there any seats left to declare?

Talk about a hangover for the Tories and Labour.

If I were the leadership of either main party I’d still be in bed round about now, dinner time in the UK, wouldn’t want to face the music.

Labour will be particularly terrified that it has lost it’s Brexit heartland in Sunderland, a traditional working-class socialist stronghold if ever there was one in the north of England, not to UKIP…but to the pro-EU Liberal Democrats.

the equally pro-EU Greens who have made many gains as well.
Considering their base level, this is a brilliant result for the Greens.
not to UKIP… but to the pro-EU Liberal Democrats
As a pro-EU member of the Liberal Democrats, a Liberal since the 1960s, and therefore an observer of many ups and downs, I hope you will forgive me for doing a cheerful chortle today. 🙂

Not just a chortle, you deserve a congratulatory drink on the house to go with it 🍻

After some pretty rough wilderness years in the aftermath of the Tory coalition and the tuition fees issue, the Lib Dems have stormed back into business and defied all the odds, along with every political prognostication, to come out on top in the locals.

And you/they did it by running an explicitly and unambiguously “stop Brexit” campaign.

You guys are owed some serious satisfaction on a day like today.

An invitation to read for oneself and check the sources, evaluate the misinformation intended to reduce controversy over issues, i.e., borders and customs, and “Peace Deals I, II, and III”.
The wind thats blowing the EU as a “wonderful thing” has an odor.

13% shift from Labour to Lib Dems in Sunderland, I do believe.

And in a number of other Brexity-voting Labour seats, as follows from earlier on today:

EU Environment Council

EU environment policy, including policy on engagement in the wider international environment protection agenda is discussed at Environment Council meetings. The Council is comprised of Ministers with responsibility for environmental matters, including climate change. All Member States are represented and the Council generally meets in formal session four times a year. Together with the European Parliament, the Council is responsible for adopting progressive European environment policy and legislation.

A list of the reports of Council meetings can be found on the European Council website.

Does this relate to the EU? Together with the European Parliament, the Council is responsible for adoping progressive European environment policy and legislation.

The credibility of the EU cheerleaders is easily disputed. No discussion with other points of view are invited or allowed. Sounds about right for what’s coming down!

Peace IV

Project Summary

This project is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) with the aim to engage young people from both sides of the border and communities. Through workshops and shared learning the participants will gain an awareness of the impact a ‘hard border’ had on communities and individuals, culminating in the young participants interviewing and recording “older” border resident’s experiences. The digital recordings and material collected will be made available here on the project website.

What can hardly be denied, however, is that the independence of the indigenous nations was destroyed when they were conquered by the expanding US. The result of such a system is called an empire.
I have heard these critisims many times. As has been mentioned, when the settlers first came here they killed off thousands of indigienous through disease. At the time I doubt anyone knew that would happen. Medical science was not very advanced.

When the white settlers got here many were leaving terrible lives behind in Europe. Some were tenants and servants that we’re just above slaves. The land available was mostly cleared of timber, and the farmland was not very fertile.

Whenever I hear people put blame on these settlers I wonder what they would have had them do. They had probably already sold all their property, spent several months on a ship at great expense, and the arrived at the promised Land in the New World. Here they saw timber and fertile land as far as the eye could see. They met indigienous people who had vague claims to “lands beyond the river” and other terms. The people who lived here did not claim to be citizens of any one country. Actually tribes made violent and cruel war on each other frequently.

We’re the settlers expected to say to themselves “well I guess there are these scatered groups of people here already so I’ll just go back to Europe.” That was never going to happen.
