The Israelis implying, “We need our own nation because we can’t trust anyone else not to eventually turn evil and persecute us” is very insulting and does not endear me to their side.

Why can’t there be ONE State made up of Palistinians AND Jews? (And other ethnic and religious groups for that matter). Why should either group claim exclusivity to the land? Sounds like ethnic and religious chuavinism to me…on both sides…

-Chris
Hi,cmforte,
There is one state with Palestinians and Jews, Israel , but most Palestinians refuse to live in a Israeli state.

Far more Palestinian civilians die from the Israeli military then Israeli citizens from Palestinian terrorists.
It,s not as simple as comparing the casualty numbers. It depends on who the aggressor was and if the attacks were offensive or defensive.
The Palestinian’s have fired over **TWELVE THOUSAND [12,000] QASSAM ROCKETS FROM THE GAZA STRIP SINCE 2001 !!! **that is the raison d’être for the blockade of Gaza.
If your neighbour fired a weapon at you and your family and you returned fire killing him.Would you feel it right if you were condemned for it ? But not only do Hamas fire on the innocent, they fire from hospital grounds, schools, markets ect.

The “American 2 state solution” was wanted only by ONE side; and it was the weaker side. No good.

I don’t know much about China and Tibet, but I’d imagine the same holds. After all, the most populous nation on earth would oppose Tibetan nationhood.

Whereas, if majorities on both sides want the 2 state solution, who would stop it?

ICXC NIKA
The people who don’t want two peaceful states.

Majorities aren’t required for things to happen. About 1/3 of American colonists supported the War of Independence. It seems there are plenty of people who don’t want 2 states. The majority of Americans today, don’t want abortion on demand to be legal…but it is.

It’s unlikely they’ll simply cease and desist from that desire because a majority opinion thinks otherwise.

Pax.

While I am hardly pro-Islam, and think those who consider it a “religion of peace” are gravely mistaken, we must also be careful in making proclomations about any divine mandate for a modern Israel.

The true modern “Jewish” Church, the faith that Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Elijah, etc belonged to is…the Catholic Church. The Messiah they awaited came, died, and rose again.

Modern Jews are not the same religion as Jews of the Old Testament. I say that with charity and not as any kind of attack on anyone. It is simply a historical and theological truth. Modern Rabbinical Judaism is not some sort of alternate path to Heaven ordained by God. We know no one can get to Heaven except through Christ, and modern Jews reject Christ. We must pray for the conversion of all peoples to the One True Faith.

Pax and God Bless.
Your ignorance of sacred scripture is epic as is your understanding of biblical prophesy regarding the return of Jesus Christ and the role of the Hebrew people in it.
Since you believe the Jewish people aren’t going to heaven, then were do you think the six million who died at the hands of Christian Germany are ?

I also support a two state solution. Israel should keep all the land that they own and the Palestinians should keep the land that they own and form their own nation.

It didn’t actually say the Vatican supports a two state solution.
Yes it did.

It didn’t say whether or not the Vatican supported the two state solution going through the UN.

But the article stated that the Vatican has always supported the two state solution according to the UN resolution of 1947, when agreements allowing for the state of Israel to be established were negotiated.

The thing is, back when these negotiations were going on, the Palestinians(Muslims, Christians and even Jews) living in what is now Israel, called for one state with a secular representative form of government. The Zionist’s rejected this proposal and sought only a Jewish state with borders they had drawn up. They were so zealous in there goals, Jewish militias carried out terrorist attacks against Palestinian villages where the boundry lines crossed through. They even attacked the British by blowing up the King David Hotel, killing civilians and 81 British soldiers.

When you learn of how the state of Israel came into existence, and how far back the Zionist began their quest for a Jewish state, you get a better idea of why the Palestinians have so much animosity towards the government of Israel. Religion has nothing to do with it. It’s all about seeking justice, which the Vatican has always been on the side of.

My frend’s Palestinian grandmother still has the key to her old house in Israel. She hopes to be able to go back there someday.
Unfortunately, she like other Palestinians in the same position, are going to have to abandon their desire for home return, if they truly want peace and to have a future for their children.

Israel is never going to allow the return of exhiled Palestinians to their homes.

Well unfortunately, the Jews have history to support their paranoia.

You mean Palestine? You do realize that for every Israeli civilian who dies dozens of Palestinians die. The Palestinians are far and away the worse off. That’s why it is the Palestinians who are most opposed to the status quo, while the Israeli state is cimmitted to preserving it.

Wouldn’t really be practical. Most Israelis and most Palestinians want two states. A few on the extreme of one end want one happy state where everyone gets along, and a few other extremists want one Jewish state with the Palestinians being forceably removed or one Palestinian state with the Israelis forceably removed. Of all the options, the most moral and sensible one seems to be the two state one.
No I mean Northern Ireland ! But at least it’s only moral support that some Americans are offering a would be Islamic state, not like the bombs and bullets they supported terrorism in Northern Ireland with.

I thought the Vatican sees Israel as a natural state, not a supernatural state. I do not support zionism, but I do support that Jews have a homeland to call their own.

I support now the Palestinians get their own state, but through negotiations with Israel and not the UN. Ultimately they have to live side-by-side with one another.

And lastly, I would like to see the US stop sending funding to the ME. If the Israelis want to buy weapons they can buy them, and money sent to the PA should stop as it goes to the pensions of imprisioned terrorists.

That is the definition of Zionism.

I’d rather see ALL US foreign aid suspended for about 20 years. Our economy is in the WC and we cannot afford any more do-gooding.

Might be my bad, but I thought zionism was the Jews return to the temple. That was my understanding of it, so again, I may be wrong. I would hate to see animals slaughtered as sacrifice when Christ was the perfect sacrifice for all time.

I support a Christian majority of Holy Land.

No Jewish Government. No Islamic Government. Christian 👍

That’ll end the bs.

The premise that every cultural group should be a sovereign nation is a dangerous one to take.
But I didn’t make that premiss. Before the creation of Israel that territory was Palestine. In fact exactly what you say should not happen is what did happen: the creation of a sovereign state for the Jewish people.
On that premise, England should let the Scots and Welsh go, while the USA would…never mind.😦
Many in Scotland and Wales would agree with you. They can go as far as I am concerned.
I’m not sure that anybody presently in the ME is acting in good faith
That is certainly understating the Middle Eastern problems. I think we assume its as simple as Jews against Muslims. It is not so simple. Many of the Arab/Muslim countries in the Middle East do not get on or trust each other.

It,s totally ok. If you had ever lived in a country were people were regularly scraped of the street you would know.
It is not OK. It is certainly not the stance any Christian should take. But, then we know how so-called Christians in Northern Ireland treat each other. Violence is not the answer. It is not the answer that any one who claims to be a true Christian can take. And there is no way there can be any claim for a just war in the Middle East or Northern Ireland.

You defend the indefensible by condemning Israel for defending herself. As far as Christians killing one another in Northern Ireland I have never seen it. I have seen and I mean seen terrorists killing Christians i.e rupublican and loyalist terrorists killing Catholic and Protestant Christians. Their have even been occasions when English troops have murdered Irish Roman Catholics, but* never, never* have I seen or heard of a follower of Christ kill another follower of Christ.

No. Zionism was the movement leading Jews back to Erez Israel, (the land of Israel; known since the Romans, who drove the Jews out, as Palestine) beginning in the 1800s. The term was coined in 1897 by Theodore Herzl, meaning the "return to Mount Zion, in Jerusalem.

After 1949 the term had stood for Jews returning to the new State of Israel. There is no Zionist drive to rebuild the temple, not least because there is no Biblical priesthood left to operate it.

How dare you make this assumption!! You see, this is what I am talking about!! History is history, it is in the past. And I wasn’t even around then!! Neither was the majority of people today!! How dare anyone accuse me of being sub-conciously and naturally anti-Semitic and ready to persecute Jews at the drop of a hat!! Are they spychic? Are they God? Can they read the hearts and mnds of all non-Jews?

This inflammatory and slanderous accusation does not make me want to support them. They need to try another tactic.

-Chris

One state? It might not be an alternative you or I like, but it’s a possibility to be sure.
Its also not an alternative that either Jews or Palestinians like. Its inconceivable that Israel would allow itself to exist with a Muslim majority or that a Muslim majority would agree to be ruled by a Jewish state.
However I guess stranger things have happened.
