. There is no Zionist drive to rebuild the temple, not least because there is no Biblical priesthood left to operate it.

Actually there is: israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/133801, jewishroots.net/library/end-times/rebuilding_the_temple.html , templeinstitute.org/main.htm. -And these are just a few of the many links that will come up when you Google it. And mainstream Evangelical preachers (like John Hagee and Rod Parsley, two huge Christian Zionists) have also disclosed that they know Jews who are preparing for the rebuilding of the Temple, saying that Levitical priesthood wasn’t totally stamped out.

I’d rather see ALL US foreign aid suspended for about 20 years. Our economy is in the WC and we cannot afford any more do-gooding.
Seeing that US foreign aid accounts for around 1% of the federal budget canceling all of it isn’t going to pull us out of the WC…

To rebuild the temple (which I don’t think anyone seriously is considering) would, AFAIK, cause the Mosque to be torn down. WW3 would ensue…

Its also not an alternative that either Jews or Palestinians like. Its inconceivable that Israel would allow itself to exist with a Muslim majority or that a Muslim majority would agree ***to be ruled by a Jewish state.***However I guess stranger things have happened.
Why should it be a Muslim State or a Jewish State? How about just ***a State ***containing and governed by both Muslims and Jews? (And what ever other ethnic and religious groups there are there…like our fellow christians.)

Tell that to a number of Evangelical preachers and organzations that have huge influencial lobby groups in Washington, like John Hagee’s Christians United for Israel: cufi.org/site/PageServer?pagename=homepage

I watch Hagee’s and Parsley’s TV preachings every week and they both said they know Jews doing this. And they are in the mainstream.

Which is exactly what Hagee and Parsely, and some other Evangelicals want. Every time I watch their preachings, they seem to be beating the drums for war, especially with Iran, thinking it will be the war of Armegeddon and bring on the Second Coming. Of course, they, and all true “born-again” christians, would not have to suffer through it because of the Rapture!!

How dare you make this assumption!! You see, this is what I am talking about!! History is history, it is in the past. And I wasn’t even around then!! Neither was the majority of people today!! How dare anyone accuse me of being sub-conciously and naturally anti-Semitic and ready to persecute Jews at the drop of a hat!! Are they spychic? Are they God? Can they read the hearts and mnds of all non-Jews?

This inflammatory and slanderous accusation does not make me want to support them. They need to try another tactic.

There are still alive today hundreds who survived the death camps and are still living with the horror of it. Not quite history for them. There are lots of Christian Institutions Catholic and Protestant who would love to forget their associations with Nazi Germany. But rest assure that God will not forget.:dts:

There is no need to tear down the Dome, which btw is not a “mosque.”.

At least one source has suggested that the ancient stone is actually some decameters from the Dome. A temple could be built alongside it.

(That however, would still require a level of peace between peoples that is hardly imaginable now.)

But you are making the assumption that all christians were associated with Nazi Germany and that we would choose to do so today if it re-emerged. What you are explaining is called generalizing or stereotyping and prejudice: its like a white person being victimized by a black man and then start hating all blacks for it.

Do all white Americans want to bring back the enslavement of blacks too since that was also a part of history? Oh, don’t tell me…you’d probably say yes.

Hi,comforte,
I do not make the assumption that all Christians were associated with Natzi Germany. That is why I used the term Christian institutions instead of Christians. Our last Pope and Maximilian Kolbe were proof that many Christians acted to the the will of the Spirit while others failed to act at all.:sad_yes:

My apologies. My comment was actually for JimR-OCDS and GEddie. They are trying to use the Holocaust and the possibility of a future holocaust (because apparently all non-Jews are secretly anti-semitic and evil just waiting for the right time to let their secret out and persecute Jews)-for the creation and maintenence of a “Jewish State”.

No apology required Chris I do that all the time.👍

Haven’t read the entire thread since the initial posts shocked me so much.
Do we not recall Blessed John Paul II advocating this very thing in 2000?

Pope calls for Palestinian homeland

"Pope John Paul II has made an impassioned plea for a Palestinian homeland, at the start of his visit to the West Bank town of Bethlehem - the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

The Palestinian people have the natural right to a homeland

John Paul II:
“No-one can ignore how much the Palestinian people have had to suffer in recent decades. Your torment is before the eyes of the world. And it has gone on for too long,” the Pope said in a speech at a welcoming ceremony attended by the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat.
On his arrival in Bethlehem, he was presented with a bowl of earth, which he kissed.

A Palestinian homeland

The Pope said the Vatican had always recognised that the Palestinian people “have the natural right to a homeland, and the right to be able to live in peace and tranquillity with the other peoples of this area. …”

'Pope In Bethlehem Endorses Palestinian Homeland
by The Associated Press

text size A A A May 13, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI made a powerful plea Wednesday for a Palestinian state, mixing prayer and politics at Jesus' birthplace and expressing solidarity at a refugee camp with "all the homeless Palestinians who long to be able to return to their birthplace."

At the Aida refugee camp, the pope spoke in the shadow of the massive concrete barrier that divides Israelis and Palestinians and urged both sides to resist the urge for revenge and find the courage needed for peace.

The high-profile visit provided a forum for Palestinians to vent their rage over the Israeli occupation, and Benedict said he understood their frustration.

But he urged young people in particular to "have the courage to resist any temptation to resort to acts of violence or terrorism," his first mention of terrorism since he began his Middle East tour last Friday.

At each stop during his 10-hour stay in the West Bank, Benedict said much of what the Palestinians were hoping to hear, including giving assurances of his "deep compassion and remembrance in prayer" for those killed by the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

Arriving in Bethlehem from nearby Jerusalem, Benedict, 82, was driven through a gate in the 25-foot-high concrete wall, part of the separation barrier Israel has erected along the West Bank and

calls key to its security.

"Our pope is our hope" read posters hung around the town, also dotted with yellow and cream flags of the Vatican and red, black, white and green Palestinian flags.

At the nearby Aida refugee camp, the pope said the looming barbed wire and concrete structure served as a "stark reminder" of the tense situation. ..."

Why would a more recent announcement surprise any Catholic?

Good grief. That seems to be quite an over-reaction.

Yet that is your opinion and your conclusion.
You have no idea regarding the intent of either poster.

Modern Jews are not the same religion as Jews of the Old Testament. I say that with charity and not as any kind of attack on anyone. It is simply a historical and theological truth. Modern Rabbinical Judaism is not some sort of alternate path to Heaven ordained by God. We know no one can get to Heaven except through Christ, and modern Jews reject Christ. We must pray for the conversion of all peoples to the One True Faith.

Pax and God Bless.

Your ignorance of sacred scripture is epic as is your understanding of biblical prophesy regarding the return of Jesus Christ and the role of the Hebrew people in it.
Since you believe the Jewish people aren’t going to heaven, then were do you think the six million who died at the hands of Christian Germany are ?

Actually, that has been the historic view of The Church. Has it changed its dogma on this? I’ve read the Carechism regarding this subject, and it doesn’t explicitly state either way. If the old Covenant is still valid, why did Jesus create a New one? Why be a Christian if one can be a Jew? (They do accept converts). The Catechism only says:

839 "Those who have not yet received the Gospel are related to the People of God in various ways."325
The relationship of the Church with the Jewish People. When she delves into her own mystery, the Church, the People of God in the New Covenant,** discovers her link with the Jewish People**,326 "the first to hear the Word of God."327 The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions, is already a response to God’s revelation in the Old Covenant. To the Jews “belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ”,328 "for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable."329

840 and when one considers the future, God’s People of the Old Covenant and the new People of God tend towards similar goals: expectation of the coming (or the return) of the Messiah. But one awaits the return of the Messiah who died and rose from the dead and is recognized as Lord and Son of God; the other awaits the coming of a Messiah, whose features remain hidden till the end of time; and the latter waiting is accompanied by the drama of not knowing or of misunderstanding Christ Jesus."

It doesn’t state whether the Old Covenant is still valid or not, it just say that Judaism is a response to the revelation in the Old Covenant and that it still contains the history and “gifts” of it. Basically, it only states the obvious, it only makes an observation of Judaism, it does not state an opinion about its validity.

And your “understanding of biblical prophecy” is caused by your own interpretation of it, and is probably influenced by non-Catholic evangelical and fundamentalist dispensation teachings.

And btw, before you say that is anti-semitic, believing in religious freedom as I do, and knowing the obvious connection between christianity and judaism, I still have respect for today’s Jews, I don’t “hate” them or am against them (the definition of “anti”). I just want to know why a New Covenant would be needed if the Old Covenant is still valid and why you oppose the historical view of The Church’s Tradition and agree with fundamentalist dispensationalist tradition.

Of course, if the Magisterium (Pope and all) did reverse its historical viewpoint and does consider Jews still the chosen people and will be saved at the Second Comimng and that The Church is just then created ***only for Gentiles ***(seems to contradict its history and historic theology), then I will obviously apologize and accept it.

Actually, if you would go back and read all the posts between us and get the context, this is quite clear.

I don’t like benig falsely accused of something, like being secretly anti-Semitic. Of course I am going to react passionately.

-Chris
So there must have been some misunderstanding because you surely
accept what the Church teaches regarding the Jewish people:

from ROMANS 11:

"God’s Irrevocable Call.*

25 I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers, so that you will not become wise [in] your own estimation: a hardening has come upon Israel in part, until the full number of the Gentiles comes in,

26and thus all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

“The deliverer will come out of Zion,

he will turn away godlessness from Jacob;

27and this is my covenant with them

when I take away their sins.”

28 In respect to the gospel, they are enemies on your account; but in respect to election, they are beloved because of the patriarchs.

29 For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

“Triumph of God’s Mercy.”
