Modern Jews are not the same religion as Jews of the Old Testament. I say that with charity and not as any kind of attack on anyone. It is simply a historical and theological truth. Modern Rabbinical Judaism is not some sort of alternate path to Heaven ordained by God. We know no one can get to Heaven except through Christ, and modern Jews reject Christ. We must pray for the conversion of all peoples to the One True Faith.
Pax and God Bless.
Your ignorance of sacred scripture is epic as is your understanding of biblical prophesy regarding the return of Jesus Christ and the role of the Hebrew people in it.
Since you believe the Jewish people aren’t going to heaven, then were do you think the six million who died at the hands of Christian Germany are ?
Actually, that has been the historic view of The Church. Has it changed its dogma on this? I’ve read the Carechism regarding this subject, and it doesn’t explicitly state either way. If the old Covenant is still valid, why did Jesus create a New one? Why be a Christian if one can be a Jew? (They do accept converts). The Catechism only says:
839 "Those who have not yet received the Gospel are related to the People of God in various ways."325
The relationship of the Church with the Jewish People. When she delves into her own mystery, the Church, the People of God in the New Covenant,** discovers her link with the Jewish People**,326 "the first to hear the Word of God."327 The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions,
is already a response to God’s revelation in the Old Covenant. To the Jews “belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ”,328
"for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable."329
840 and when one considers the future, God’s People of the Old Covenant and the new People of God tend towards similar goals: expectation of the coming (or the return) of the Messiah. But one awaits the return of the Messiah who died and rose from the dead and is recognized as Lord and Son of God; the other awaits the coming of a Messiah, whose features remain hidden till the end of time; and the latter waiting is accompanied by the drama of not knowing or of misunderstanding Christ Jesus."
It doesn’t state whether the Old Covenant is still valid or not, it just say that Judaism is a response to the revelation in the Old Covenant and that it still contains the history and “gifts” of it. Basically, it only states the obvious, it only makes an observation of Judaism, it does not state an opinion about its validity.
And your “understanding of biblical prophecy” is caused by your own interpretation of it, and is probably influenced by non-Catholic evangelical and fundamentalist dispensation teachings.
And btw, before you say that is anti-semitic, believing in religious freedom as I do, and knowing the obvious connection between christianity and judaism, I still have respect for today’s Jews, I don’t “hate” them or am against them (the definition of “anti”). I just want to know why a New Covenant would be needed if the Old Covenant is still valid and why you oppose the historical view of The Church’s Tradition and agree with fundamentalist dispensationalist tradition.
Of course, if the Magisterium (Pope and all) did reverse its historical viewpoint and does consider Jews still the chosen people and will be saved at the Second Comimng and that The Church is just then created ***only for Gentiles ***(seems to contradict its history and historic theology), then I will obviously apologize and accept it.
