"The Vatican has suspended a high-ranking Catholic bishop from the Holy See after he admitted he was gay on Italian television during an anonymous interview.
The Italian monsignor, a title given to senior Vatican officials, said he “didn’t feel he was sinning” by having sexual relations with men, Rome daily La Repubblica said on Saturday."

Apalling! Absolutely apalling! How did this rat ever get so high in the Vatican?

That this man rose to high office is an embarassment. But he wouldn’t be the first bishop to walk on top of Church teaching. Archbishop Milingo remains a worse example.

As I heard another poster say (stealing a line here:D ) “The smoke of Satin has not only entered the sanctuary but he has set up camp.”

Hey the point is he got suspended. Anyone that is suprised such people are in the upper echelons of the Church are fooling themselves.

I say we rejoice that he has been properly dealt with 👍

It is a blessing that this unrepentant, wayward priest has been exposed and is being dealt with properly even though it may cause some embarassment to the Church. We need priests who wil follow the will of Our Father, not their own will.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican has suspended a senior priest in the Holy See who acknowledged homosexual relations in a supposedly anonymous television interview, but was identified by superiors from background shots of his office.

In a major embarrassment for the Roman Catholic Church’s hierarchy, Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said on Saturday the monsignor, whose name was not released, was suspended from duty pending an internal investigation.

I was impressed that the writer actually accurately laid out the Catholic position on the distinction between homosexual inclinations and homosexual acts.

“The Catholic Church does not consider homosexual tendencies sinful in themselves but condemns homosexual acts and teaches that priests should adhere to their vow of celibacy.”

That might be the first time I have ever seen a news writer get something right about anything relating to Catholic teaching.

However, I still don’t see why this is news worthy. Do we hear about it when an “anonymous” Minister, Rabbi, or Cleric breaks his vows? Why are we hearing about this?

Whenever a priest breaks his promise of celibacy must it become international news just so everyone can see how “impossible” celibacy is? (Even when we don’t even know who it is).

What an embarrassment! As if the San Francisco drag “sister” Communion scandal wasn’t enough.😊

I’ll bet the evangelicals/fundamentalists, as well as radical traditionalists(SSPX and sedevacantists) are really playing this one up on their blogs.🤷

Judging by the press, I’m afraid the Roman rite is beginning to sound uncannily like the Episcopal Church of late, in spite of Pope Benedict being in charge…

No need to shoot the messenger.

There are no doubt clerics who break their vows every day, but the reasons the media are reporting on this one are 1) The individual is a high-ranking bishop at the Vatican, 2) He admitted to his behavior on Italian television, while being interviewed at the Vatican, 3) The Vatican spokesman made an announcement about it.

This story is already old, it has come and gone. There really is nothing to be embarrased about. A sound reminder that the clergy is every bit as human as the rest of us.

Doubt it, they made their minds up about the Catholic Church a long time ago. The news changes nothing

B16 is just at the wheel, God is in charge.

Indeed, and we should be pleased with this. Far better than the cover-ups of past sexual abuse.

As with the homosexual Priest scandal another example of why homosexualtiy and the Priesthood are imcompatible.

Well, I think the Priests engaged in heterosexual abuse caused plenty of scandal and should be booted too.
