Thanks be to God, glorified by all his saints and the saintly!

Eternal memory to His servant, Archbishop Fulton Sheen!

How I love this man and his sermons! And how much we need his clarification and sound judgment at this time in history. I would love to hear him speak on some of our current day issues - I suspect some Catholics would be very surprised. I will begin praying to him for the Church and for the nation.

I love Archbishop Fulton Sheen, but I never knew he was bi-ritual until this picture. So, I did a quick search and found the following: wkyc.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=129990. I’m sure there’s more, but thanks for sharing the pic. I wouldn’t have known otherwise.
(The following is from an email I got today from the Sheen Foundation that gives a timeline of his ministry)

In 1955, Venerable Archbishop Sheen became the first Latin Rite bishop ever to offer a Solemn Byzantine Rite Mass in English – for more than 150,000 in Uniontown, Pa. In 1966, he was elected Chairman of the Committee for the Propagation of the Faith. Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Rochester, N.Y., in Oct. 1966, and as Archbishop of the Titular See of Newport, Wales, in Oct. 1969.

That is so cool! Maybe he’ll eventually go on to be a saint! 👍

Venerable Fulton Sheen, please pray for us. Amen.

Before he left the Peoria Diocese, he served as a parish priest in the parish my Dad’s familly lived in.

I’m trying to hunt down their baptismal certificates to see if there is any chance he may have baptized one or more of them.

That would be soooo cool.

That would be very cool indeed. 🙂

God bless you for sharing this.

I know I said this numerous of times but if it wasn’t for you lovely CAF members I would have never known The Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. I have been blessed to receive a third class relic Prayer card that has been touched to his Mass Vestments and I receive newsletters about The Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. as well.
