Job 42:10 And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he had prayed for his friends; and the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do this.

25 Beloved, pray for us.

1 Corinthians 6:12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.

1 Timothy 4:8 for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

1 Kings 18:21 Elijah then came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you go limping with two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” The people did not answer him a word.

Sirach 15:13-15 The Lord hates all abominations;such things are not loved by those who fear him.
14 It was he who created humankind in the beginning, and he left them in the power of their own free choice.
15 If you choose, you can keep the commandments, and to act faithfully is a matter of your own choice.

Any physical activity comes with inherent risk. We can overdo it, use improper form, work out when we’re too tired and risk injury or further injury. And that’s not to mention other sports like football, skateboarding and others. Even Pilates and cyclin can cause injury.

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
And yoga is neither God nor money. Irrelevant.

You should look at the links I posted. Any physical activity comes with risk, yes, but in the case of yoga it is often teaching very bad poses for the body. Common poses that supply no benefit, as there is no way of doing them correctly; they will inevitably damage the body.
Doctors traced the problem to an unresponsive nerve, a peripheral branch of the sciatic, which runs from the lower spine through the buttocks and down the legs. Sitting in vajrasana deprived the branch that runs below the knee of oxygen, deadening the nerve. Once the student gave up the pose, he improved rapidly. Clinicians recorded a number of similar cases and the condition even got its own name: “yoga foot drop.”
Hyperflexion of the neck was encouraged by experienced practitioners. Iyengar emphasized that in cobra pose, the head should arch “as far back as possible” and insisted that in the shoulder stand, in which the chin is tucked deep in the chest, the trunk and head forming a right angle, “the body should be in one straight line, perpendicular to the floor.” He called the pose, said to stimulate the thyroid, “one of the greatest boons conferred on humanity by our ancient sages.”
Extreme motions of the head and neck, Russell warned, could wound the vertebral arteries, producing clots, swelling and constriction, and eventually wreak havoc in the brain. The basilar artery, which arises from the union of the two vertebral arteries and forms a wide conduit at the base of the brain, was of particular concern. It feeds such structures as the pons (which plays a role in respiration), the cerebellum (which coordinates the muscles), the occipital lobe of the outer brain (which turns eye impulses into images) and the thalamus (which relays sensory messages to the outer brain). Reductions in blood flow to the basilar artery are known to produce a variety of strokes.
etc etc.

The opening line of that article is decidedly not trying to dissuade people from practicing yoga, only advising that they do it consciously and with awareness of their own bodies.

Which is what any doctor or therapist would tell you about any exercise ever.

There’s plenty of exercises which will, over time, damage the body. I trained as an amateur bodybuilder for almost 10 years, I know what years of overhead presses and heavy barbell curls can do to the shoulders and elbows.

How about Father Gabriele Amorth Catholic priest who became the world’s best-known exorcist was the chief exorcist for the diocese of Rome and wrote several books about the dark art of casting out demons. he performed 70,000 exorcisms. Father Amorth was appointed the exorcist for the diocese of Rome in 1985.
Zaccheus
If Father Amorth performed an exorcism a day it would take 192 years to perform 70,000 exorcisms.

Same here. I only quit because I was a beginner and the class had all levels. It was too hard for me to do.
I took it at my parish, which after some people complained, it wasn’t offered anymore.

I am always careful to keep my right pinky curled in and my wrist slightly bent just to avoid that very position! (Thank you for reminding us all of its dangers. 🤨)

I think bringing in both Harry Potter and Yoga into the same thread was not the best way to foster an orderly discussion of two very polarizing issues.

Having a direct reference to the article cited would tend to facilitate a more orderly discussion of the topic as well, I think.

What about Father Amorth, often, said: ‘practicing yoga brings evil as does reading Harry Potter. They both seem innocuous but they deal with magic and that leads to evil.’
He added:‘Yoga is the Devil’s work. You thing you are doing it for stretching your mind and body but it leads to Hinduism. All these oriental religions are based on the false belief of reincarnation.’

Father Amorth was a deeply traditional figure, Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, both of whom were reported to have performed exorcisms fully supported him, also with the present Pope Francis. In 2014 the International Association of Exorcists was officially recognized by the Vatican.

They call it “Hollywood yoga” for a reason. It’s like dancing around a firepit lit to worship some idol, instead of jogging, because it’s so cool! The true aim of yoga is self-anihilation and dissolving oneself in the Absolute, raising of the Kundalini serpent through the chakras, physical death, etc.

The Truth About Yoga
Watch as I expose the satanic deception behind Yoga. Many think it is a harmless form of stretching and exercise. It is anything but that, Yoga is in fact a form of Hindu worship and it is an open door to demons. Yoga is meant to awaken the Kundalini spirit within the individual, a snake spirit said to be coiled around the base of the spine. Once awakened through Yoga stretches, it is said to travel up the spine to the brain and open the 3rd eye, or pineal gland of the individual, which is an occult satanic term used to refer to spiritual vision. Yoga stretches are also pulled right out of the Hindu Vedas (scriptures).

Frankly I find these sorts of “discussions” on this forum positively irrational and filled with the most absurd statements. It is like conspiracy theories gone absolutely mad.

There’s a good deal of difference between Harry Potter and “real” witchcraft.

The reason i posted is, wanted Catholic to be aware of the dangers of yoga, some times discussion go over the head,Thanks and God Bless

In a recent homily, Pope Francis reminded listeners that practices like yoga aren’t capable of opening our hearts up to God. “You can take a million catechetical courses, a million courses in spirituality, a million courses in yoga, Zen and all these things. But all of this will never be able to give you.freedom”, he explained
The Pope tells us that only the Holy Spirit can “move the heart” and make it “docile to the Lord, docile to the freedom of love”. If we are seeking a zen-like peace from yoga meditation, then we are seeking peace from the wrong source.

The same goes for yoga- kundalini is not hatha is not ashtangha. The more people talk about it, it’s clear how little they actually know about it. Although to be fair, I would in fact steer clear of kundalini yoga, but that’s my opinion from experience and nothing more.

Yoga is worship positions of hinduism Father Amorth, often, said: ‘practicing yoga brings evil as does reading Harry Potter. ‘Yoga is the Devil’s work. All these oriental religions are based on the false belief of reincarnation.’The Pope said that only the Holy Spirit can “move the heart” and make it “docile to the Lord, docile to the freedom of love” and not other forms of seeking peace or yoga meditations or seeking peace from the wrong source.
