So which network or news organization does Harry Belafonte represent, and did he actually support Chavez, or just denounce Bush?

Don’t know about you, but meeting w/ Venezuelan leader Chavez sure sounds like support to me.

So it sounds like your argument boils down to
“the media” = a celebrity
and
“supports” = meets with

Your definitions strip almost all meaning from your original sentence, but at least using your approach we can now say that “the media” support George Bush, **** Cheney, Pope Benedict, and even Bill Donohue.

There were a few months last year (or maybe early this year) when a bunch of “celebs” were going to Venezuela to meet with Chavez. Belafonte was one, Cindy Sheehan was another, Kevin Spacey and Sean Penn both met with him too. It was a “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” kind of move. As far as I have read, none except Sheehan, mentioned any support of Chavez’ policies other than his stance against Bush.

Just a bunch of Jane Fonda wannabees. 😃

I’ll assume that what bone_IV means by media is members of the American entertainment industry…who tend to be leftist thus look to people like Chavez, Castro and Ernesto Guevara as leaders to look up to.

The only Hollywood celebrity I’ve seen protesting againts Chavez so far is Maria Conchita Alonso, who coincidentaly was in a movie with Chavez’s buddy Danny Glover.
