Well, if the abortion issue comes up, Ryan can say he is following his faith. Biden, no.

I’m looking foward to a spirited debate.
They may both claim to be following their faith. The average Nazarene or Church of Christ person, e.g., won’t know the difference.

I do not like bloodshed on TV, even if it is allegorical. The absolute worst are the battles of wit where one side is unarmed. Ugh!
It’s sad when the right wants to bring back innocence and romanticism, but it will lead to a baby boom that the progressives don’t want, and the other side wants to promote more recreational sex that needs free birth control and abortion to limit the numbers of individuals born who would have been drains on the earth.

Unlike some who would like to see Catholic issues raised, I don’t think they will be. Do Baptists care who is being denied Communion? Do Anglicans care?

I believe that the only issues that will be discussed are those that have impact on all Americans - the economy, taxes, troops in the Middle East, etc. Wholly secular issues.

Suppose they were two Mormons. Would anyone here care if they argued about a point of their doctrine? Of course not. Catholics on the Forum appear to be too insular. 🤷
However, there are many more people in this country whom call themselves catholics, than either mormons or j.w.s… additionally, even if its not true the msm still believe there is a “Catholic” vote.
If there is still a “Catholic” vote than this debate is probably as close as we’re going to get to seeing how it swings:shrug:

Only if either man brings up Catholicism. I hope it won’t turn into a “I’m a better Catholic than you are” exchange as if it were a school yard.

The difference being one can show it with policy, the other can’t.
The difference being that a larger segment of the population at least has an inkling of Catholic teaching, esp with the fight against the HHS mandate

Although that doesn’t mean they haven’t already picked sides

You’d be surprised. I get a lot of people telling me they admire “the Catholic Church” for sticking up for unborn babies" when they see my license plate. Of course, Catholic is big in St. Louis, never-the-less, these are non Catholics saying it to me.

Trying to decide if it’s worth skipping choir practice over it. 😃

I’ll DVR it.
I’m starting a year long study on the Catechism tonight.I may be taping the debate as well, however, won’t be the same as seeing it live.😉

Old uncle Joe doesn’t stand a chance tonight against Paul Ryan. 🙂
As Rooster Cogburn said to Lucky Ned Pepper in their showdown, “Fill your hand, you son of a b****!” Ryan is going to haved to fill that hand of his. 😃

You didn’t know Biden and Obama are pro “choice” advocates ? Policy may be the wrong word. Do you like pro “choice” agenda better?
Actually, Obama is pro-abortion, Biden is pro-choice. IMO of course. 🙂 But I still think that the topic won’t be raised. Even during his acceptance speech, Romney said only nine words related to abortion.

For the supposed “larger segment” that don’t know Catholics are pro life, all it might take is the utterence of a few words like “Catholics are pro life…and I’m catholic”. Not a tricky one.

"Choice’ is only a cover -up word.
