Incorrect. Romney’s stated policy is to set military spending at a minimum of 4% of GDP. Thats $2 trillion over the next ten years.
His plan in the short term is to not make the cuts that Obama has proposed, not make the cuts that would come into effect with the debt ceiling issue, and stop current draw downs. Obama is trying to drop military spending from 16% of the federal budget down to 11% of the federal budget.

The 4% of GDP plan would be phased in over time, and only as the economy grows. It is worth noting that Robert Gates, who was Obama’s defense secretary endorsed this plan and do did Obama’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Admiral Mullen.

I hope he does increase military spending and increase the size of the military. I’m tired of seeing soldiers have to go on tour after tour because the military is so small that we don’t have the troops to rotate them properly. I’m tired of people wanting to send them places, and then draw them down and not support them.

I’m cautiously optimistic that Mr. Ryan will do well tonight.

Oddly, both profess to be Roman Catholic, but only Mr. Ryan is held to task for it. (And Mr. Biden’s professed opinions on many things are contrary to Church teachings…)
so quick to pass judgement on others. i can’t wait for the election to be over so we can stop tearing one another apart and get back to ACTUALLY being Catholic.

b/c all the middle class cares about is more government benefits. No, what I want is NOT to be on government assistance.
I agree.

I’m all for full austere cuts on everything, total privatization, and total deregulation.

👍👍

" In a recommendation for law school, the teacher called Biden average in “intellectual achievement” but high in “command of English language” and recommended him based “on grounds of personality and general promise.” Biden ended up 76th out of 85 in his law school class; the law school dean described him as an academic “disappointment” but praised his “confidence,” “general physical appearance” and “general speaking ability” in recommending him as a lawyer." skeletons.com

Was that what you saw?

I can’t get behind empty suits. There’s no substance. Lead, follow or get out of the way. The Chicago mob and their banksters have gutted America, crippled us with debt, emplaced Hitler’s allies, the Muslim Brotherhood, in Egypt and Libya, and bankrolled cronies who bankroll them. The Catholic Church is suing this bad ol’ boys Democrat administration that bribed its way into nationalizing health insurance while erasing religious liberty. Biden put a lot of lipstick on that pig and wants us to pucker up. Buh-bye. Yes, Paul Ryan would make a good president, and Mitt Romney has said so. Why? Mitt Romney can add and subtract, and he knows this lousy war on America by Americans has been successful, and that it will take sixteen years to repair the wounds. I pray they are not deadly. May God bless and protect America and grant Jerusalem His perfect peace.

Whether or not anyone voted on it is irrelevant. He had a plan with specific details that was presented to Congress. Ryan/Romney have nothing.
Biden stated that Ryan twice passed a budget through the house tonight, and he said it more than once. Was he lying, or are you wrong?

In addition, both the President and Biden have made very specific claims about what the Romney-Ryan plan would do in terms of taxes, etc. Regardless of the fact that their claims are untrue, simply logic tells us that if Romney and Ryan are not providing details, there is no way that such analysis could be performed. So again I ask, are they lying or are you wrong?

I have no problem with any politician’s rude antics, but agree that Ryan did pretty well and held his own, if barely.
I think Ryan was falsely coached to keep a slight smile on his face and not get emotional. Biden scored better when he forgot to follow the laugh he was coached to use and got emotional. Ryan kept getting a drink of water, covering his mouth, which is a body language that he is hearing a lie. I would have liked to see him get more passionate. He started to a few times, but the moderator cut him off.

I think it was rude of Biden to interrupt so many times. I can’t imagine independents really connecting with Biden’s antics - which is what the Dems needed. If the goal was to appeal to the 30% hardcore base then mission accomplished. I don’t think that will help Obama win though.

One of the analysts I heard earlier suggested that tonight for Biden was not about Biden, it was about setting up Obama for the next debate. In that scenario, Biden could afford to come across like a jerk if he gave them good polling data about which issues work for them and how to approach them.

I am not sure if that is true or not, but I see some possibility in that approach. After the next Presidential debate, no one will care how Biden acted in this unless Obama loses again.

Big deal.
Chris Wallace is a respected and fair newsman. Its not like this is coming from a blatantly partisan Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh. Maybe not a big deal, but David Gergen - the Dems favorite go -to guy for anti-Republican commentary, thought Ryan looked more presidential than Biden.

Kind of like a sacrifice fly? Interesting - that sounds plausible. On the other hand, I think Biden was just being Biden - rude and arrogant. What can Obama do next debate? I think he has played his hand - no record to run on, and Romney’s too smart and a good debater to allow Obama to simply push more lies during the next debate. Big issue is Libya scandal - what did Obama know and when did he know it? Not good for Obama or Dems.
