To start off, this is my first post, though I have read many posts on many subjects here in the past this my my first post.
With that said, let me lay some background… My Great Grandmother told my mother, and us when we were younger on many cases where she would dream of someone she hadn’t spoken with or seen in years, and the next day or two she would find out that they died. That’s the extent of what I know of her dreams.
My Mother, who was always a devout Catholic and still is, has told us many times on several occasions that dreams came true. One was of a cousin telling her to tell her mother not to cry for her that she was happy - and the cousin died 2 days later. The other major one that I know of saved our lives in the park from a car running us over (she dreamed about us dying in the park hit y a car the night before).
I have also had not only dreams that came true (no dreams in many years like that), but I’ve had thoughts in my head on waking, particularly a few years back before I met in person a new friend, that the person with change my life - and they did in fact - nearly destroying my life - which though ended up in my overnight (literally) reversion back to the faith after 25 years 2 years later - when I can only describe as a thought that I needed to follow Christ (so indeed they resulted nearly in destroying my life and actually bringing me back to God).
Since then, there have been a bunch of times while in prayer and contemplation that I have received thoughts that guided me to answers, or warned me of things that could harm me.
What really though is the problem for me is this: my oldest daughter has experienced the same dreams, like a warning of a certain man in a red shirt in a dream that actually wandered into the school the next day and peaked into the classroom (she was freaked out), and a bunch of other things she has dreamed that have come true. She once dreamed of a plane crash, and a date (she awoke repeating the date - she was only 7 or 8 at the time) - and to this day we will not fly on that date.
Now, my younger daughter (9 y) just last night after our prayers (which is why I am posting this) tells me that she doesn’t dream about normal stuff she dreams about things and they come true. I have never discussed this type of stuff with the little ones as not to confuse them. But she told me a few things she dreamed of that came true the next day, and she was afraid. I told her simply, God is speaking to you, don’t be afraid.
I am at a loss on this. Is this a gift of the holy spirit, is God speaking to us? We do not dwell on these things (or at least I don’t) nor do I try to discern the future etc - I just go with the flow. I pray the liturgy of the hours, the rosary a few times a day, I have started some Ignatian contemplation exercises, we never miss mass. Never ever do we nor have we ever messed with the occult or anything like that, in fact I think psychics are phony and Satanic sometimes.
What do I tell my kids? Do I just ignore it? Is it Satan? Is it God? I really don’t know what to do about this.
Any insight or advice would be appreciated!
