Virgin Mary spotted in Samoa

I always enjoy reading stories of apparitions and the like, however, I was none to happy when reading the article I found that the author states that “…hundreds of Catholic believers gathered to worship an image they say is Mary.”

When will some of these people get it through their heads that we worship only God and that veneration and respect is what we hold for Mary and any if the saints? I do hope that the archbishop there decides to correct the misconception found int he article.

Enough ranting. Does anyone else have a take on this story, apparitions in general and/or how Catholics are portrayed int he media vis-a-vis apparitions?
 
The picture looks more like my teachers in Catholic school in the 1950s: Sisters of Mercy.
 
I think the article explains something wrong. It is saying that the faithful come to worship the image? They don’t come to worship the “image” they come to pray to Mary.
 
The image looks like the image is of Our Lady holding the Immaculate Heart but I could be wrong.
 
That is defiantly an image of the blessed mother.

About journalists, they always get their facts wrong. I had to correct one in London who wrote that;

St Gabriel the Archangel appeared in Garabandal, Spain

The Church has disproved it

and she got the year wrong when the event took place.

I emailed the journalist and they were reluctant to change it thinking they got it right. I then emailed the editor with proof and it was quickly changed.

That article had more holes then Swiss cheese.

I think that we must not judge others believing ,whatever it may be we were not at the spot,it is no harm that to believe,nowadays we always suspect everything,and also it is catholic faith to honor our Mother Mary. Dear holy Mother pray for us.
 
A friend of mine uploaded me photoes of that and what I saw was quite different from some of your views. For me it looks like the Holy Family!!

When the Blessed Virgin appears to individuals - there is not ambiguity of what it is. SHe doesn’t come in the form of a grease stain, a potato, tree stump or whatever.

We have miracles happening at the alter every Sunday - is our faith so weak that we MUST seek out random objects to venerate?
 
I’m not so sure folks, it seems a little ambigious to me, though I do find the whole Marian apparition phenomena facinating. Also rediscovering this aspect to the Catholic faith.
