Virginia parish severs ties with Knights of Columbus over plans to honor Gov. Terry McAuliffe

A Virginia Knights of Columbus council is pressing forward with plans to honor pro-abortion, pro-homosexual “marriage” Gov. Terry McAuliffe by having him as grand marshal of its St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In response, the parish priest has strongly reproached the council and cut ties.

Norfolk Knights of Columbus Council 3548, which has organized the Norfolk Saint Patrick’s Day Parade since 1967, had secured McAuliffe as grand marshal, apparently keeping the choice from the pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, where the council is based. When Father Dan Beeman took it up with the state council on the advice of his bishop, he was told by the state council that another grand marshal would be chosen, a decision that was reversed ten days later

As a brother Knight this really bothers me. What is supreme doing about this? Disgraceful. I sent there council an email explaining my position. Other than that is there anything else that can come of this. It truly is scandalous. Not only the fact that this Govenor was chosen. I think that is now secondary to the scandal of disobedience and the fact that their home church has severed ties with them. Where are all the good men standing up to this?

This is a scandal. I felt much the same when our then Catholic Governor Ted Kulongoski and his wife were the honorary co-chairs of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon’s Gala Ball fund raiser … Followed by the photo-ops of receiving Communion at every opportunity …

Though rebuked by the Archbishop it did not prevent him from presenting himself as Catholic when it suited him and that gives him the cloak of acceptability. Which is scandalous and confusing to the people.

And how does one fund & celebrate killing children at a Gala anyway:confused:
 
Big thumbs up 👍 to the pastor and bishop for upholding the Catholic faith, and clearly laying out the truth on this issue. You cannot proclaim to be a faithful Catholic and at the same time honor those who obstinately oppose fundamental truths of the Catholic faith.

This is heartwarming that a pastor is leading his flock.

Obviously there are not that many good men in that particular chapter.

Indeed. I hope not all KofC chapters are judged by this action and I hope someone investigates this further. I can’t believe they acted against their traditional principles like this.
 
That council needs to be dissolved and any officers within the state structure that supported them need to be removed from office.
 
I was involved in the KofC in northern Virginia. Our council and the ones in our area were very pro-life and would never have done anything like this.
 
I’m a VA knight and I’ll be sure to bring this up to brother knights at the council.

I certainly hope the State Council didn’t lie to the Priest. I’m almost annoyed that I wore my pin today.
 
If they can hold up McAuliffe as a “Catholic in good standing” by honoring him, does the phrase have any meaning anymore? Perhaps we here in SoCal ought to invite Nancy Pelosi to do a parish mission then. :mad:
 
I saw a comment on LSN about this requesting that the orthodox Catholics remaining in council 3548 transfer to nearby councils.

I think the opposite should happen. There should be a flood of transfers into 3548 from other councils, and they should work to oust the current 3548 leadership. Once they have the council back in the hands of orthodox Catholics obedient to the teachings of the Magesterium, and established a legacy of such, they can return to their councils.
 
As a fellow Knight, I find this highly depressing… and disturbing… I don’t understand how a group of Knights could be so horribly misguided.
 
As a fellow knight I will be bringing this up to our council.

Unfortunately, this is a reflection of the knights as a whole - unless the knights do something about this.

There are over 10,000 councils in the K of C, and none of the councils I am familiar with would function in this way. They are steadfast in support of Marriage and Life.

That is what surprised me so much about this Councils actions The Knights have always been champions of life and steadfast in their support of The Church.What happened with this Council???
