In our constitution there is a statute that says:

“The Franciscans of Life shall esteem, venerate and protect the elderly. Let us not forget that the Chosen people were born from an elderly Abraham and Sarah. Nor should we forget that “no greater man was born of woman than John the Baptist”. Elizabeth and Zachariah were also elderly. God so loved the elderly that he did not ignore them. Instead, he included them as key players in his plan of salvation. Let the young brothers protect and care for every elderly man that he may meet and let him acknowledge that the elderly are God’s gift to the young.”

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂
And with that, my love for the Franciscans has escalated.

It’s too bad that you don’t find our habits fashionable enough. 😃

Gottcha!

Fraternally,

Br.JR, OSF :
Well, not to change the subject, but for your own pleasure I believe it necessary to tell you that ever since I fell in love with the Franciscan Brothers Minor, I now really like the long capuche. 😛

I’m glad to see that you’re acquiring a sense of taste. 😃

BTW are they approved by the local bishop?

Brother I know you have a vow of poverty but the Superbowl is on. 😉 One should enjoy these things!!! After all Christ was a wide receiver - he caught souls!

We don’t watch TV. You’ll have to tell me what happens. Put me down for NE Patriots.

Right now it is Patriots 17, Giants 15. It has been rather close. I am a Pats fan.

BTW - interesting little scenario for you. I am paired up with an female Episcopalian Deacon for my Sacraments class. We are doing a multimedia project on an familial model of ecclesia. We are looking right now at the possibility of The Church as mother, the Ordained as Father, the Laity as Holy Spirit, and the Lay Religious as modeling Single Parents based on paragraphs 44 and 46 in Lumen Gentium plus their strength in holding the Church together compared to strength a single mother/father may have holding a family together. This is still in it’s very early think tank stages as we were trying to bridge a very large ecumenical gap without going against either one of our Church’s teachings but recognizing the beauty of what each other had to offer.

After we finish our multimedia project on this we have to write our own individual papers. She will be writing hers associating this model with house services. I will be applying this model in the context of pro-life ministry. Do you see any major issues that I am missing?

Ha. I am glad I am acquiring taste as well. 😃

I don’t know. They were founded by a Bishop. I can’t remember his name, but if he ever is sent somewhere else, they follow him. They were originally in Pensylvania, but he was sent to Fort Wayne, Indiana, and this is where they are now. They are not yet a Community, but they do have an astonishing 26 men in just three years, and they are building another Friary. I assume they will be a Community very soon.

By the way, I’m sorry to hear you were rooting for the Patriots, when the Giants are obviously better. Not to mention the Giants won. 😛

I hate rooting for the losing team - but at least it was close. Like coronary close.

It’s hard to hear your story.

But mine is little similar, when i decided to go to the seminary when i was sixteen, my family decided to abandon me. It was so hard for me inside, but you know that God never abandon us. Several years later, i forgive to my family.

You just have to Trust more and more in Jesus and ask him power to be strong in these hard moment. I will pray for you, i will put a light for you at church.

If you have possibility, find a spiritual father or sister, whatever, just fine one person who can help you spiritually. Don’t stay alone.

Don’t find directly to enter in another order, you need now to rebuilt yourself and it’s could be possible by the spiritual help, to understand better what God want for you.

God bless you.
