Either there is a language issue going on here or it’s not a Franciscan obedience. The term “victimhood” is definitely not in Franciscan vocabulary. We don’t identify ourselves as such or any of our saints as such.

However, we do have a long Pauline tradition, “to conform to Christ in all things, including the cross.” The order was founded upon the command, “Take up your cross and follow me.”

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂

There is a kind of folk spirituality that uses the concept of a “victim soul.” I speaking of the kind of thing that surrounds Audrey Santo in Massachusetts or St. Gemma Galgani. The claim to be a “victim soul” of course does not by itself indicate sanctity; in fact, in the case of Audrey Santo, who was the victim of an accident at the age of 3, she’s not even conscious at all, physically & mentally capable of nothing. The origin of the language people use to speak of it is fairly recent–late 19th century, the references I’m seeing say. I don’t know what the history of it in the Philippines is.

This stuff is around in conversation and a older few books. I have no idea what to make of it in the form I see it there, although it seems related, in some ways, to something much more steadfastly biblical as Br JR has said, “take up your cross and follow me.” It doesn’t usually appear in that context exactly though. I mean by that, that it doesn’t seem to be just a call to live the Christian life in self-sacrificial and whole way, but something else. It’s pretty solidly into the devotional realm and things around it can get weird on occasion.

However, I’m a convert and there is much that I don’t “get” when it comes to cradle Catholic devotional talk. 🤷 I don’t “get” the infant of Prague or most of the stuff around Fatima devotions either.

This line of conversation does not seem quite in tune with the victim soul stuff I’ve seen before, however. It’s too plaintive to fit the descriptions I’ve always seen. I’m frankly puzzled. Maybe it’s a cultural thing.

FraLeones, you are in our prayers though. That’s about all we can do.

That is tough and admirable. I will pray for your intentions.

FraLeones,

Try another order. If that one doesn’t work out either, then you’ll know a lot more about what’s going on. Also next time, get as much information about yourself and how you’re doing as you can, rather than just reacting. Be open and really listen to what they tell you. It’s necessary.

We can’t really help you in a web forum, because we don’t really know you. I think that’s kind of what Julia is saying, and I agree with the fact that we can’t really do anything, except say some prayers for you. And we’ve done that.

God talks to people in a lot of different ways. Sometimes these very practical experiences are God speaking to a person as much, or even more, than any consolation they might receive in prayer. Sometimes the things God decides aren’t to our liking, and sometimes they are. Try it out again just to make sure. That way you won’t grow old wondering. You’ll know. And then you will be able to put the practical pieces of your life back together again one way or the other.
thank you for you…

and the truth is that i really dont want to be a what they have been telling me of my vocation but i know i have to obey because the voice of God is also manifested through the superior. My superior told it to me after he had a serious 6 months discernment about my case.

yes thank you… the life was so hard and it is very very very hard

but you know each year the congregation receives the least amount of 60 vocations … i was even shocked about that fact. the life is so hard but still many are so zealous to enter…

What community is this?

I’m having a serious problem believing that this schedule belongs to an approved Latin Catholic religious community. This is not a typical monastic schedule. Observe the number of hours allotted for sleep, the place of the mass and the other hours of the Divine Office.

Mass is not celebrated after vespers, because the liturgical day ends at vespers.

I have never seen monks who eat at 8:30 and go to bed at 9:00 to get up again at 2:45. That’s less than 6 hours of sleep.

Monks are ascetic, but they are very health conscious. They try to get at least 7 hours of sleep. Going from 1:00 PM to 8:30 PM without a meal can be dangerous to the metabolism, especially for older men. Glucose levels can drop significantly if meals are not properly spread out during the waking hours.

Observe the balance in the Cistercian Schedule

This one is from the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer Observe the balanced distribution of meals, the times for liturgy and the hours for sleep.

I’m very confused. Either you may have mistyped something or this community does not follow the usual monastic horarium.

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂

yes it was approved the schedule of holy mass i have written is if the vespers is integrated with the mass, if not, usually the mass is before the vespers, sorry for not stating i just forgot… and also some times holy mass is celebrated during morning .

the community is not monastic though… and also i have known cistercians 🙂

the community is about 25 years old or more if i am not mistaken. and if you live there, you would not even notice that the time for sleep was not that short for everyone is so energetic and so healthy. almost all of my batch mates are increasing in their weight. also, only few gets sick.
