If one party supports abortion & the other supports things contrary to Church doctrine like gay marriage + etc ~ how do we discern or choices.?

Or is most proper thing to do is abstain from voting?

Only perfect candidate left this planet Approximately 2,000 years ago …
 
How about you vote for the person who is actually going to try and stop people killing people before they get to have a chance in life.

Yeah, all those poor immigrants and the prisoners in Gaza and all black kids killed by police.
Never had a chance.
 
I am not sure that you can say that the Republican party supports gay marriage. It was the Court which gave us gay marriage, and once the Supreme Court has spoken, the Republicans, realizing they are not going to overturn a court case, have moved on, They have little choice but to comply with the law.

That may be terrible, but how many of them died? 25 MILLION??? that’s how many human babies die on average every single year due to abortion. 25 MILLION there are probably some countries who don’t even have that many people in them. It’s like a nuclear bomb being dropped in a giant metropolitan city…EVERY YEAR.

There’s 300 million Americans, assuming an even split of gender the top and bottom twenty percent of that are too old or too young to get pregnant. That leaves 36 million people capable of baring children.

You are telling me 3/5 women of child baring age have an abortion every year?

CDC says it’s 600 thousand a year anyway.
 
As happens almost uniformly in this country, the best thing to do, is to vote for the least objectionable candidate who can actually win.

If I had to choose between a candidate who supported abortion choice, and another who supported gay marriage but were pro-life, I’d vote for the latter. Gay marriage is a sham in support of an abomination, but at least it does not kill an unborn child, and nobody is ever forced into a gay marriage. Besides, the pro-choice candidate would probably be pro-gay marriage as well. The Democrats do a prodigious job of bundling together various “rights”, grievances, and identity groups, cajoling these groups into supporting each other’s agendas, and using the “bundled” voters to create an electoral juggernaut. I don’t understand why they lose as many elections as they do — they are the world’s best at “scratching people where it itches”.

2.6 million people die everyday just in the US alone. Most of which are completely preventable.

Not counting everyone dying abroad from American influence…
 
So let me get this straight. You are saying that KILLING 600,000 people is admissible because its not greater than the total deaths in the US???

maybe I’m missing your point? but it sounds like your OK with making it legal to kill these people because other people die from different things.

No I’m saying to elect a party solely to solve one statistic (which fight is extremely up hill by the by) and ignore people dying from things we should be holding account is reckless.

Pick a better battle.
 
the point, is that your vote counts…you can choose to vote (among other things) for legalized gay marriage which is wrong…but those people may be able to convert to the Catholic faith

OR

you can vote to allow these 600,000 or more babies a year to keep dying.
 
I know this is a potentially caustic topic but think more can be accomplished if we direct discourse toward sound reading and logic.

No, this is the battle…Catholics are suppose to follow the laws of God. the Ten Commandments.

Thou shalt not kill is one of them.

Yeah you can bring up the death penalty…but the numbers speak for themselves. 600,000 intentional killings is far worse than your

which is a number I am certain is among those dying from old age, accidents, etc. this battle is between picking the lesser of two evils. One sides evils FAR EXCEEDS the other. That is a fact. If you vote democrat as a Catholic you are responsible for those 600,000.

Yeah you are right. All Killing. But stopping 600,000 for the time being is going to help a lot more people (and their spiritual salvation) than the horrible but still less domestic/crime killings. We don’t live in a perfect world. But if you could stop 2 people from being killed as opposed to 1 person being killed, wouldn’t you pick the more people? (given you didn’t know them personally, etc.)

From the standpoint of a neutral CATHOLIC bystander…this is a numbers game.

and a whole other spectrum to this issue is the spiritual position: having legalized abortions puts more people into mortal sin than does domestic/crime killings. Speaking of the numbers game, its about souls…everyone dies but we have to try and stop people from making a choice they will regret literally forever. Not to mention the mental health issues of post abortion mothers and fathers.
