The Shiites tend to have a more theocratic form of government, right? I mean they tend to place equal emphasis on the Koran as on the civil. The Sunnis are more secular, or am I misreading what both groups stand for?
well the only theocratic nation in the world other than Vatican City is Iran which is Shi’ite… they tend to have more of a central figure rather than Sunnis…
but almost all Islamic countries tend to mix Islam with the law even if its ‘secular’…

EMAD–Yes, I see my religion as a way of life. Not sure why you would insinuate that I don’t.

I don’t think I will comment anymore, because I think I’m being misunderstood, and it’s just not helping either side, really, to understand each other better, which is always a hopeful intent.

I will always be at peace with my Catholic faith; and you are at pease with your Mulsim faith. I’m fine with that. I don’t need to convince anyone that my faith is the right way to walk; I can only pray that others will see the truth.

Thanks for the discussion, all–and God bless!!
WG

ps: Muslim–good points regarding the KKK…as my question pertained to the Taliban. There are radical groups everywhere, I suppose.
Hey whatever girl, sorry for not wording myself better. I meant that you don’t see religion as a way of life, meaning not set by laws. You believe your religion has removed all or most laws and rules, right? That is what I meant.

I am certainly not here to convert to Christianity, nor am I here to convert anyone to Islam. I am here to teach people Islam and learn about Catholicism, nothing more, nothing less. Also don’t worry about people misunderstanding you, this is the internet, that’s all that happens lol. I know your a good person and intend well. I pray Allah guides me and you to what is best. 🙂

Thank you, Emad–that was kind. 🙂 I must go now, but I wish you a good week ahead!

God bless u always,
WG

They denied him based on the “he’s crazy” and you deny Muhammad based on that same idea.
No, I deny Muhammed because he is a false prophet. I am not calling him a lunatic. I am calling him a liar. St. Paul states that if even an angel were to come down preaching a different Gospel than what Christ preached, then indeed that angel should go to Hell.

**Any man or woman or angel or beast or spirit who states anything other than “Jesus is Lord” perpetuates a lie. **

You are basing those 3 views on an idea that I dont believe: that Jesus said he was divine
The gospel according to St. John:
John 14:8:
Philip said to him, “Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.

faith101:
He was a man sent by God (as he himself said) who did only God’s will, not his own will (as he himself said) to call people back to the worship of one God.
The Gospel according to St. John
John 3:16:
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Divnity belongs to the One who never sleeps and is never in need of food and drink.
The Gospel according to St. John
john 1:1:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God
John 1:14:
And the Word became flesh 9 and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.

faith101:
Does that mean that he told anyone to worship him?

Philipians 2:9
St. Paul:
Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name 7 that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, 8 of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, 9 to the glory of God the Father.

faith101:
No. All this will be apparent on the day of Judgement, where God, who sent Jesus, will ask him in front of all of mankind if he ever told anyone to worship him.
The gospel according to St. Matthew
Matthew 16:18:
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

Maybe because it’s off topic? I reported this thread to admins and asked them to tell people to get back on topic.

🙂

ps: It is Muslim and not Moslem.

Emad, you are a Muslim. Do you have a comment on post 85 of this thread?

Edit: It isn’t really off topic. I called Muhammet a liar and therefore a sinner. Faith101 and you claimed that he wasn’t a liar. Post 85 shows why he was, in fact, a liar.

Show me where he lied, not according to your belief, but proof from his life. Belief isn’t proof, facts are. List facts where he told someone something that was untrue. Also remember it has to be a lie according to Islams definition is a lie. We don’t believe that Jesus not being God is a lie, it’s the truth to us.

He said certain things as concerning Jesus that the Apostles recorded Jesus himself saying otherwise. That leads me to say that one of the two (Jesus or Muhammed) were lying. Muhammed himself states that Jesus was a prophet of God. By your own admission, a prophet is without sin. Jesus didn’t lie when he said what he said. Therefore, who is the liar here? Muhammed.

Secondly, i don’t care what you believe is truth. I am not a moral relativist. I believe in absolute truth. What is the truth? Jesus is truth.

How could God possibly hand down two (or more) different truths? Truth is truth. There’s only one. On true and false tests, there isn’t another choice…“what you think is true.” Boggles my mind that we are all so separated.

He didn’t. He handed down 1 truth. (The old covenent) The people he handed the truth down to messed that up. Therefore, he came down and personally revealed truth through Christ.

The underlined is your belief. I also believe Muhammad was without sin, so if you want to use your logic, they are both telling the truth.

As Muslims we believe that He revealed the truth to Jesus, but it was changed and lost after him. Then God resent it to Muhammad peace be upon him. All Prophets had the same message. We believe in all Prophets, not only some, denying one of them is denying all of them.

Emad:

Here is the dilemma, however:

I believe that every word that Christ spoke was true. (Except, of course, his personal tastes as concerning food and clothing. If at any point and time he said “Dang, this fish is awesome,” i shall be obliged to disagree. I don’t like fish.) I believe that Muhammed, therefore, was a liar.

You believe that both Muhammed and Christ told the truth. However, because they clearly oppose each other, that cannot be held as true.

In fact, it is your own concession that Christ was a prophet that forces Muhammed to be a liar. If Christ was a sinless prophet, then all that he said was true. He said that he is God. Therefore, he is God.

This thread is *soooo * exhausting!!! LOL

SLEEP WELL, ALL!

I believe that every word that Christ spoke was true.

I believe what he said was truth too, every word. I don’t believe every word you associate to him is really from him, that is the difference.

You believe that both Muhammed and Christ told the truth.

Yes they both came with the same exact message, worship One God and no one else.

If Christ was a sinless prophet, then all that he said was true.

Yes that is true, however, I don’t believe that he said the things you associate to him.

Also Muhammad was also a sinless prophet so everything he said was also true.

He said that he is God. Therefore, he is God.

That’s your belief. I believe he said he wasn’t God, therefore he isn’t God.

Are you calling the Apostles liars?

Anyone who said Jesus is the son of God is a liar according to my belief. However this thread isn’t about Jesus, it’s about Muhammad being a sinner, you accused him of lying, show me where he lied according to Islam’s definition of lying.
