So you don’t have an issue with the MM and the high levels of congress lying to you?Oh, only 68% of Catholic women use “effective methods” such as sterilization, IUDs, or The Pill. Two of those methods kill babies. Sterilization is self-mutiliation for the purpose of enabling sex on demand and assures there will be no babies to kill, ever. That’s a statistic to be proud of (yeah, sure). No Pinnochios!
I have actually seen several news outlets explain that the 98% figure is misleading. I read that even the author of the study says that his study does not say that. The real fact revealed by the study is that Catholic women use birth control at about the same rate as non-Catholic women. Now if CNNand MSNBC
would only tell* this* truth… I will not hold my breath.
And that study includes hyterectomies as ‘sterilization’. So my SIL, who had uterine cancer and a subsequent hysterectomy, is now considered to be on birth control…Oh, only 68% of Catholic women use “effective methods” such as sterilization, IUDs, or The Pill. The figure seems be right around 22% of Catholics who agree with Church teachings regarding contraception. It is a figure which has been roughly stable for the past decade. It’s not even a useful number to tell how many catholics mentally subscribe to church teaching.
Wow! 22% is pathetic. The figure seems be right around 22% of Catholics who agree with Church teachings regarding contraception. It is a figure which has been roughly stable for the past decade.

22% also seems to be how many Catholics attend Mass on a weekly basis.

I guess the congruence of those two numbers make sense. If someone takes seriously the requirement to attend Sunday Mass every week, it seems reasonable that they would also take seriously the teachings regarding contraception. And vice versa.

Yes and no. It IS pathetic on objective standards that so many people have casually discarded their catholic faith. But humans have been pathetic since the fall, God isn’t particularly surprised. And I can’t speak for you, but I’m still pathetic in a lot of ways too in spite of trying to conform myself to the will of God all these years.Wow! 22% is pathetic.![]()
I know LOTS of weekly Mass attendees who use ABC or have been sterilized. I actually only know personally one couple who does not, and they used to. Even most weekly Mass attendees do not adhere to this teaching I’m afraid. The figure seems be right around 22% of Catholics who agree with Church teachings regarding contraception. It is a figure which has been roughly stable for the past decade.

Sure it can. It can tell you that men can marry men. It can tell you that it will take money from the young at gunpoint and give that money to the old. It tells you it’s okay to murder the unborn; it even takes money from you at gunpoint to spend on murdering the unborn. The government can not tell us that one doctrine or another is not protected because only X% of our members agree with it.
Yes, I do have a problem with that. I have an even greater problem with women who claim to be Catholic but thumb their noses at Church teaching. Priests remain largely silent on the issue. Lamentably, good catechesis is lacking in all areas of Catholicism. So you don’t have an issue with the MM and the high levels of congress lying to you?
All of my friends who use ABC got pregnant with every single one of their children while on ABC. One couple has 4 kids, so far, at 35.I think it’s funny how adamant people are about using ABC. All of our couple friends who use ABC have had unplanned pregnancies while using it. ALL OF THEM.
My wife and I use only NFP and we had a child exactly when we planned on it. Same with our friends who use NFP. Of course, their’s took a little longer, but they didn’t have a surprise pregnancy come up before.
