Wasn't there an actual ark?

I looked up the story on Noah and the Ark. It can be found in Gen.Chapters 6-9
If God was actually speaking to you and told you to build an Ark because He was going to flood earth, would you obey?
The Bible doesn’t mention 30 million species , only seven pairs of all clean animals, male and it’s mate. seven pairs of birds of the air, male and female. And creeping things.
Many folks do wonder how this was accomplised, but as you know it was done with the Lord’s help. God took care of the details while Noah was building the Ark.

I was thinking, if it was you, you’d be asking lame-brain questions about how can I do this. lol
With God everything is possible.
Go to Gen and read all about it. Pray first.

God bless you,

What you should be asking about the Ark is why did The Lord ask Noah to build it? God was about to flood the entire earth. Do you know why?
See posts 192,195,216… Have read and prayed over Genesis many times and have also have taught it to my adult Bible study.Noah’s ark should not be a standard of how strong one’s faith is.These are tales told for thousands of years passed down.the Eridu Genesis predates the Biblical story by a - where the hero is also ordered by gods to save creatures(mostly small)
A tale which is dated to about 3000bc- which in some Bible timelines is about 600yrs earlier then the Noah flood! The message is more important then the details but so many make those details more important then the moral of the story. another question that should be asked is why did God use Noah, when we know that all is possible with God? YHWH could have done it Himself- why ask cooperation from a human?

why did God not convert everyone instead of drowning them ? He could have, but did not. “God can”, unless carefully defined, allows us to make no end of loopy suggestions as to how the ark contained what is said to have contained. “God could” miniaturise all the animals, in the manner of “Fantastic Voyage” - it is safe to say this did not occur.

He is not converting them now. Noah preached salvation for at least 100 years. From my understanding of the Bible, judgement for sin and rebellion was passed on to the antediluvian people as well as all that they had dominion over (animals).

This is a precurser to what will happen in the SECOND JUDGEMENT which will come for the same reason. If the first judgement was not a historical event then why should the second judgement be?

It’s not clear that the Flood was a “First Judgement” - events described as judgements are frequent in the OT: notably the disaster that is said to have befallen the Cities of the Plain; that, is referred to more often than the Flood.

The reality of the judgement by Christ does not require an earlier judgement by Him - why should the certainty of the judgement be dependent on certainty about an earlier one ?

*If *the entire earth - as we know it - was flooded, this would require far more water than could possibly have dried by the time allowed in the script for Noah & family & animals to disembark. This great mass of water would have been so heavy that the earth’s rotation would have been affected.

It’s much much much much more likely that we should think of the earth as the compiler/author/editor of the text knew it. For him/them/her (?) (why not ?), the whole earth was far smaller than it is for us.

When an Assyrian king - such as that great warrior Ashur-nasir-pal II (883-858) 🙂 - calls himself “king of the world”, he is not claiming to be king over Australia, Tristan da Cunha, China or Greenland. he & his fellows is interpreted in his context: one that was familiar with what (from several later POVs, of which ours is one) was a small segment of the globe. What makes the geographical knowledge of the book of Genesis (which is roughly as old) any different in its geographical (& hydrological) knowledge ? If the answer is “inspiration”, the answer to that is, “How come ?”

Genesis is inspired - that does not require or imply any knowledge in advance of the author’s time: it requires God’s activity, not excellence of knowledge in man.

“Everything is possible” (with God) does not account for anything: why did God not convert everyone instead of drowning them ? He could have, but did not. “God can”, unless carefully defined, allows us to make no end of loopy suggestions as to how the ark contained what is said to have contained. “God could” miniaturise all the animals, in the manner of “Fantastic Voyage” - it is safe to say this did not occur.
Maybe you should be advising your god. Your ideas are so fanciful. 🙂

2Peter- NAB

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days scoffers will come (to) scoff, living according to their own desires

4and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? From the time when our ancestors fell asleep, everything has remained as it was from the beginning of creation.”

5***They deliberately ignore the fact ***that the heavens existed of old and earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God;

6 through these the world that then existed was destroyed, deluged with water.

7 The present heavens and earth have been reserved by the same word for fire, kept for the day of judgment and of destruction of the godless.

-The author replies that, just as God destroyed the earth by water in the flood (2 Peter 3:5-6, cf 2 Peter 2:5), so he will destroy it along with the false teachers on judgment day (7). The word of God, which called the world into being (Genesis 1; Psalm 33:6) and destroyed it by the waters of a flood, will destroy it again by fire on the day of judgment (2 Peter 3:5-7).

His god is our GOD- YHWH.There is nothing fanciful about what he says. It’s strictly in line with Biblical study and uses the same criteria as Biblical scholars ,including Catholic scholars. Peace:)

Just popping in here to say that the Torah clearly states that ony landanimals and birds get a place in the ark. Gen 6:19-20
that’s great, considering all of the elephants, equines, rhinos, vidabeest, the loadmaster can save a few points by not having to house guppies.
