Whether they were men, or used such decadent names, I think it was inappropriate. But then, if we are going to ignore people that regularly come to mass dressed immodestly on the regular, how would we react if they had denied them communion?

I think they should have, but I believe that there would have been a lot more outcry if they had not.

My objection is to their attire, not their lifestyle… although I ain’t happy with that, either.
If they were in full regalia, it would be VERY obvious what statement they were trying to make. I’ve seen them on a few occasions, and they are really decked out in makeup and habits.
It’s kind of perversely beautiful - I saw one of the sideline of the March for Life in SF and it was pretty eerie.

This just makes me ill - where is that gacking smiley when I need him…

May God find His way to San Francisco, for they are so clealy confused!

In my humble opinion, I would characterize this report as clear and convincing evidence of the hypocrisy and impotence of Archbishop George Niederauer. Just my opinion however, as I will let the Pope and ultimately God be the final judge on that.

Although by all appearances it does appear to be dispicable. I will pray for these “men” and the Archbishop.:signofcross:

Here is Catholic World News editorial on the event.

The precious Body and Blood of Christ was profaned. This is beyond shameful. Someone should show Archbishop Niederauer canon 915, and Archbishop Burke’s recent publication commenting on it. I wonder if he was aware of it?

San Francisco, Oct 10, 2007 / 03:09 pm (CNA).- The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of men mockingly dressed as religious sisters, received Holy Communion from the Archbishop of San Francisco last Sunday.
The “sisters”, dressed in costume and white facial paint, and with names such as “Sister Porn Again” and “Sister Roz Erection,” were given the Eucharist by Archbishop George Niederauer at the Most Holy Redeemer parish in San Francisco.

This is just absolutely disgusting and downright outrageous! I can’t believe that the archbishop would do such a thing! Sounds like some disciplinary action is in order.

Absolutely disgusting! Oh how sad it is to see the lamentable state that the Church in the US has come to. Lord have mercy on us all! :signofcross: Lord come quickly! :signofcross:

What an incredibly sad sacrilege these people have committed. And why did the bishop allow them to receive the Eucharist when he clearly should have kept the Eucharist from these people who are obviously in unrepentant sin?

I weep when I read articles like this. It makes me wonder just how close we are to the second coming of Jesus.

You know something - you really do have a point. Sometimes I feel like the Pope is just totally out of touch with the evil that lives in the Church in America, and that if he truly experienced it for himself he would (hopefully) clean house in a massive way.

At least I would hope that would be the case. 🤷

I’m of the mind he knows well - which makes this appointment extremely troubling to me. But I left the church a few years back because of mixed signals then from the Vatican. They beleive or they don’t - or so I thought.

I am shocked by this. I agree that some sort of action is necessary. Preferably, I think that the bishop and the pastor of the church should be removed because of the gravity of this scandal. I don’t want to beat up on anybody but…the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of the Lord! Bishops ought to know better than to place the Holy Eucharist in the hands of activist anti-Catholic sodomites.

I am tempted more and more everyday to go SSPX…
Don’t leave the Church. The Church is in a sad state in this particular area of the world but that does not give reason to leave the Church that Christ founded.

I totally agree! I wonder why Pope Benedict appointed this guy as bishop?

I can’t believe the Pope, this Pope, appointed him bishop!
Neither can I to be honest. But then again, who knows why he was appointed as bishop? There surely has to be a good reason for it.

Don’t hold your breath. I live in SF. This parish has gotten away with - whatever you want to call it - forever. Even when a certain now top Vatican official was bishop. The reality is what is. This diocese and the former bishop caused me to leave the church. The new bishop re-affirms that decision with this and his position on gay adoptions by Catholic agencies.

Well, to be fair to Pope Benedict, we could also wonder why the Lord Jesus appointed Judas. I think we should give the benefit of the doubt to Pope Benedict, considering all he has done to try to solve problems in the Church.

I believe someone once said, “Keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer.” 😃

Seriously, though, this bishop could have been once (even not long ago) a good, orthodox priest. Satan really tries to corrupt not the ‘average’ but the BEST. Benedict XVI is the Pope; he isn’t God. He is protected from teaching error but neither he nor any other priest is guaranteed to be ‘protected’ from sin simply by virtue of being a priest.

How many people do we know–friends and family–who may have been models of the faith when they were younger but rejected it, some with spectacular wickedness, hate, and vitriol–when they were older?

Or how many, like Fr. Corapi and St. Augustine, were hellions in their youth and then repented? Could you imagine that people who knew them in the ‘bad days’ would have ever DREAMED that they would become ‘good?’

Don’t give up on this bishop (or anyone else). Prayer is our best weapon --let’s use it.
