. . .

In light of the spiritual battle going on in San Francisco, the Pope should appoint a new, younger Archbishop, one with fire in the belly.
. . …
Note that he is 72. He was one of Pope Benedict’s first appointments. He replaced Archbishop Levada, who Pope Benedict appointed as his replacement as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. One presumes he was appointed with Archbishop Levada’s recommendation.

Don’t hold your breath. I live in SF. This parish has gotten away with - whatever you want to call it - forever. Even when a certain now top Vatican official was bishop. The reality is what is. This diocese and the former bishop caused me to leave the church. The new bishop re-affirms that decision with this and his position on gay adoptions by Catholic agencies.
It was when I was living in SF that I also left Holy Mother Church in confusion. (beautiful city but I will never return there) The journey back was long and hard. But I now know that it is only the Holy Mother Church that has the truth and the Eucharist. I have been back for almost 20 years and this year my husband will join the rest of our family at Easter praise God.

I will pray that you will return for the one and only Catholic Church needs us now more then ever to protect it and not to turn our back on it.

I hear what you are saying, I realize he was one of Pope Benedict’s first appointments – but one has to wonder if the Vatican truly knows to what extent the ***spiritual battle ***for San Francisco is being waged.

Do they know that San Francisco has long been known to be the Headquarters for the Church of Satan?

There are some very serious spiritual strongholds in that city, perhaps the Vatican should consider a battalion of exorcists first. I am not being flippant either, I am serious.

If this act of aggression by these misfits - upon a holy and sacred place, during a most Holy and Sacred moment, does not manifest abject evil among us – what does?

The hierarchy of the Church can no longer remain uninvolved. The Vatican, and I hope the Holy Father, will get directly involved in this particular situation on a public and a spiritual level – to bring this kind of evil aggression against the Body of Christ to an Immediate Stop.

We have to know that Jesus, Our Lord, was extremely sadden over this sacriligious act. My sense is that Saint Francis is terribly grieved by the event also.

My hope is that Catholics who read about this grotesque event would somehow find the time to pray a Rosary novena for San Francisco. As Father Corapi would tell you, the Rosary is one of the strongest weapons against the evil one and his craftiness.

I like to recall Genesis 3:15: "I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel."

A while back I posted a question as to why the bishop in SanFrancisco had not voiced his oppostition to the Folsom Street “celebration”. Upon reading this thread I now know why. Again, a sad example of no back bone. I’m sick of it up to my armpits.
By the way, each time I log on to this web site I lose my peace. I just can’t take it anymore.
I wish you all the peace of Christ, but I won’t be back.

I was very angry and upset about those drag queens and the bishop, etc. Then I thought about my own parish and what I have seen there and believe me this is as far from San Francisco as you can get. Teenage girls going to communion dressed like Tinker Bell. Altar boys (and girls) in rubber flip flops, cut offs, etc. Anyway there is very little reverence shown. It is a sad state of affairs.
This exemplifies why I am leaving the Latin Rite. This latest of many, many, incidents is just the last straw, and there will be another just as disgusting tomorrow… and the USCCB defends these scum. When the Arians were taking over the Church there were good Bishops who waged the battle with them, took them to task, countered their ludicrous teachings and called them what they were, heretics, by name! Even the “good” bishops will say nothing about thier own! They make meaningless generalized, non-confrontational remarks on page 32 of some newpapeer with readerships of 200 people… They say nothing and do nothing. They have been bought and paid for. They wine and dine with people even the Arians would have fled from! The Church will be victorious, but the Latin Rite is spiraling into hell. I will not let my children be taught by the likes of these for, if I do, I shall lose my own imortal soul! I am seeking where I shall go, such as Coptic, Melkite, Byzantine, etc.

Just watched this on the replay… Amen Bill! More Catholics should have this passion.
O’Reilly is totally off base when he said the Bishop couldn’t have done anything because he is an old man. At least the theologian guy was putting some of the responsibility on the Bishop.

As best I can see this falls under the purview of Archbishop Levada. His actions while archbishop of San Francisco do not lead me to expect much action from him in his new job. 😦

Yep - you are right. Actually the “spiritual center” for Satanists is supposedly north of the City. But Satanists all around the world know each other by the code “Don’t I know you from SF”?
Heard a talk by Raymond de Souza who tried this in South Africa after he witnessed a woman stealing the Eucharist. She admitted she stole it and that “they” tell her where and how to get it. When he asked who “they” were, she said she never saw them, just heard their voices…yikes.

I believe Rome will come down hard on this archbishop, unless he publically admits his mistake of offering these “sisters” Holy Communion, and in very short order.
Rome isn’t going to do anything. Nothing will happen. Bishop Niederauer is just a wuss, plain and simple. If he were one of the 12 apostles he’d be telling Jesus to “tone it down a bit”.

He’d rather let his sheep be ravaged by the wolves, because “hey, it was their choice to walk off, who am I to tell them to stay in the pasture.”

Vat

I am physicaly ill over this, we should start a petition of some sorts to send to the vatican over this.
I just saw this quip on O’Reilly. I was really afraid he was going to have a stroke screaming about this. At one point I thought he was going to cry, took him a while to stop screaming and to compose himself.

You know, I really believe The Church must not roll over and play dead on this thing. I believe their really is a time to be angry. AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM!!! Did Jesus or did He not get angry and knock over tables in the temple? These people came into The Catholic Mass to MOCK, RIDICULE AND DEFAME THE HOLY EUCHARIST. I am absolutely INCENSED!!! I know for me, I will check this out further. I will most definitely do what I can to petition this. I believe The Church SHOULD scream loudly and clearly on this thing. And if it doesn’t there is definitely something wrong with people who will NOT DEFEND TO THE DEATH THE BODY OF CHRIST!!! I really cannot believe that the archbishop really had a grasp on what was happening. This group should be sued for defaming The Catholic Church, Bill O’Reilly is RIGHT ON THE MONEY ABOUT THAT!
And SOMEBODY IN THE HEIGHERARCHY NEEDS TO OPEN THEIR EYES TO THE TERRIBLE DISRESPECT BEING SHOWN IN THE CHURCH BY SOME OF THESE PEOPLE OF THIS CITY. Makes one want to scream OPEN YOUR EYES AND TAKE THE BLINDERS OFF, PLEASE, AS NOW THEY HAVE GONE SO FAR AS TO MOCK THE BODY OF CHRIST!!
WON’T SOMEONE PLEASE FIGHT FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST???
Whew! I’d better try to calm down before I have a stroke right along with O’Reilly.

Maybe we have come to a time in Church history where we need to have the Knights of Columbus posted out front of every Church entry while Mass is going on. Hopefully, they will be posted in Full Gear. We are not playing games here, the Body of Christ needs to be defended in a very serious manner these days.

Now would be a good time for young men to consider serving their Lord by serving as a Knight of Columbus, with specific duty to Guard the Entry while Holy Mass is being said.

teelynn: calm down. I thought orilie was gona blo a gasket too. so I thought i’d come to Catholic answers and get the scoop. I watched the video where the freaks were in the parish hall after the mass for a little coffee and cookies . one ordinary looking parishiner, an older man, in dark glasses, is thanking one of the freeks for showing up. It is easy to see what he is saying. Check it out . or am I just seeing things. So its not just the Bishop it is the whole parish perhaps. Are they all a bunch of vipers. Are ther any of them parishiners on this fourm .

I can read lips and the man in the sunglasses at the reception definately said, “Thank you so much for coming”. Also, when the Bishop first came face to face with the first “sister”, it looked like he was going to just bless him at first…not holding up his hand to say “no”.

thanks I thought, it might be my imagination. The whole speckicle is sad and disheartening beyond words. now I can get some sleep.

Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church is located in the Castro neighborhood, which is the heart of gay San Francisco.

MHR has been discussed here before. It has a strong outreach to the gay community which bothers many CAF members since this outreach appears to water down Catholic teaching on homosexuality.

I don’t recall any member of MHR speaking up in the threads which criticized that parish.

I didn’t even know about this whole thing until I just now saw a video clip of it on Bill O’reilly’s show.

I am seriously so mad right now I can’t even see straight. I’m getting so sick and tired of people in this world.

I was (am?) saddened and angry too, because of the video I saw on O’Reilly. I searched usccb.org, the SF diocese website, and the MHR website, but found no statement about it. I did find MHR’s mission statement, as follows:
Most Holy Redeemer Parish is a Christian Community in the Roman Catholic tradition. The parish draws people from isolation to community, from searching to awakening, from indifference to concern, from selfishness to meaningful service, from fear in the midst of adversity to faith and hope in God.
The community of Most Holy Redeemer shares God’s compassionate love with all people. The parish offers a spiritual home to all: senior citizens and youth; single people and families; those who are straight, gay and lesbian; the healthy and the sick, particularly persons with HIV disease.
As a parish community, we celebrate God’s loving presence in our lives. In worship and sacrament, especially the Eucharist, we are nurtured and challenged to extend God’s kingdom of justice, truth, love and peace by growing in the spirit of Jesus, the Most Holy Redeemer.
I’m trying to understand why the Archbishop would give them communion. I don’t get it. I want an answer from him, to help me understand. It is certainly true that all are sinners, and Jesus ate with many outcasts, in order to draw them to him. However, with the Folsom Street ridicule of the Church, etc., I cannot understand why the Archbishop would (IMHO) desecrate the Blessed Sacrament by giving it to those two. Does the Archbishop know something about those two that the rest of us don’t?

How can we get a statement of explanation from MHR?

Well, I just read the What will he tell them? article in the OP (Sorry, I should have done this first.)

Can we write a letter to the Vatican, asking them to do something about things like this in America? Is it better for each of us to write separate letters, or get a petition going (via email, I guess)?
