Never said SF was backwater. It appears you place way too much emphasis on men and not nearly enough on Christ and his teachings. Think spiritual not political. The Church has started moving forward with Tradition once again since it knows Tradition adheres to what Christ taught. This will take time. The Vatican will be cleaned out eventually. We have the last 40 years to fix.
I know you didn’t say the Bay Area was a backwater. My point is this stuff has been going on for years here and surely this Pope and the previous one had to know. But seemingly do nothing.

Knowing and proving are two different things. This is why the video is helpful to them. They knew for a long time that things weren’t write in our diocese. They had a stack of letters in a file a mile high. That said, just as in a regular court, hearsay doesn’t hold up canonically either. First of all, many a good priest has been attacked in letters to Rome. Rome simply doesn’t know us and doesn’t know who they can trust. When you give them irrefutable proof without commentary, they can act on it.

Are you sure about this? I still see altar girls and I see women giving out Holy Communion in the hand. Women are not wearing headcovering in Church. How is this a movement toward tradition?
Notice I said “started”. I agree, we have a LONG LONG way to go. The MP is the start.

Yep, I totally agree and it needs to end immediately. I have no explanation for that, and I haven’t seen any posters explain this either let alone the Church. I would probably feel the same way you do if I lived there except I place more emphasis on the teachings and less on finding role models.

Went to the Extraordinary Form today and it was so refreshing to hear a priest talk BOLDLY about Catholicism as it was handed down to us. No water bucket for dilution at today’s Mass. I know they have the EF in Oakland, maybe you can check it out.

Let me get this straight: the ultimate goal is to ban these disciplines? I thought MP was to provide traditional diciplines liturgies *as well as *N.O. liturgies. So long as N.O. liturgy was not abused, I didn’t think (and didn’t hope) it was to someday go on the chopping block. Sorry, girls, you did a good job helping out while you had the chance 😦

Sacrilege, Scandal and Homosexual Ideology in San Francisco

A ‘thank you’ from the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence”
The Most Holy Redeemer parish bulletin of October 14 carried a “thank-you” note titled “An Email from One of Those Attending Mass.” It was written by “Delta Goodhand,” listed on the web site of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence as “Sister Delta Goodhand.” “Sister” Delta Goodhand’ writes:

“To all the Folks at Most Holy Redeemer: Just a quick note to recognize the wonderful Mass yesterday at your Church to welcome Archbishop Niederauer. Your entire congregation was so welcoming and it was great to be able to participate in the Mass. The service was absolutely beautiful and I know that I personally walked away very inspired by both the Archbishop’s message and the angelic voices of your choir ringing in my ears! Amazing! Afterwards, one of the parishioners offered us a blue ‘MHRC: An Inclusive Catholic Church’ pin that I was proud to wear through the Castro Fair. You are a wonderfully inclusive church!”11

On the Archbishop’s order the parish deleted the message from the online bulletin.12 Nevertheless, a no less surprising message appeared in the MHR Parish Bulletin on October 14, 2007, in which the Parish thanks those who helped set up its stand for an event with heavy homosexual presence (to say the least):

Yes, Jesus told us outright that we would suffer persecution in His Name. If one is really and truly a follower of Jesus, he will in fact be persecuted. Maybe by his family, maybe by his own parish, maybe by his own diocese. I think He told us to expect it from ANY source. Of course it is difficult and will become even more difficult as time goes on. ** But the fact of the matter is if you profess yourself to be a follower of Jesus, are you going to pick** up your cross and follow Jesus or are you not? We are supposed to be in the world but not OF the world. Followers of Christ have their eyes on THE PRIZE. (Heaven) The comforts and pleasures of this world wilt and die like flowers in the field. Personally I don’t really want to come to Judgement and have Jesus say to me, “go away, I don’t know you!”
Benedict XVI affirmed that all Christians should be ready to give their lives for Christ.
The Pope said this today before leading the midday Angelus, and after the largest beatification ceremony in the history of the Church, held today in St. Peter’s Square.
“Their example gives witness to the fact that baptism commits Christians to participate boldly in the spread of the Kingdom of God, cooperating if necessary with the sacrifice of one’s own life,” he said. "Certainly not everyone is called to a bloody martyrdom. There is also an unbloody ‘martyrdom,’ which is no less significant, such as that of Celina Chludzinska Borzecka, wife, mother, widow and religious, beatified yesterday in Rome: It is the silent and heroic testimony of many Christians who live the Gospel without compromises, fulfilling their duty and dedicating themselves generously in service to the poor.
“This martyrdom of ordinary life is a particularly important witness in the secularized societies of our time. It is the peaceful battle of love that all Christians, like Paul, have to fight tirelessly; the race to spread the Gospel that commits us until death. May Mary, Queen of Martyrs and Star of Evangelization, help us and assist us in our daily witness.”

Precisely, it is sometimes necessary to become a martyr to the faith in many ways, and at times including giving your life for Christ. And the Archbishop would have had to martyr himself in a political way had he refused the SOI The Eucharist. It takes grace to become a martyr for Christ. Something that we all must pray for both for ourselves and for others. Especially in these times of increasing evil, as Satan is very cunning. Prayer and fasting is what we (IMHO) urgently need to do. As I have stated in previous posts, you have to be spiritually very blind not to see that we are fast approaching chastisement.

Hey, Tietjen -
I, too, watched Hannity & Colmes. I was quite disappointed that Sean’s response was so weak. I could not believe that anyone (i.e. Susan/Neal) could be so matter-of-fact. They acted as if a church is just another public forum! Unbelievable that no one but Fox is even discussing this attack. Why is our freedom of religion never defended? Until this story, I was naive about San Francisco. No other mainstream church would put up with this. I can’t believe the hierarchy of ours will.
First of all, stop watching Hannity! He’s a talking head; he’s not a crusader for truth. Didn’t you see him jump all over that priest (I can’t remember his name) for saying, yes, he’d deny him the Eucharist, since HAnnity’s a public figure who supports the use of ABC?

Secondly, what exactly would you (and others here) have the Church do? I see a lot of clamoring for action to be taken – why? Certainly, the bishop may need a talking-to by Rome, but that is not for any of us to determine. Calling for excommunication or burning at the stake or what-have-you exhibits a desire for revenge.

Why?

Pray for these people – they clearly need it! And I will pray that the atmosphere of anger and uncharity that I see here will be dispelled.

Peace,
Dante

Hannity can’t say a word on anyone denying Communion to anyone after blasting Fr. Euteneuer. He’s lost all moral authority on the issue unless, of course, we are to believe that Hannity is the one who gets to decide who’s sin is bad enough to deny Communion.

I agree. I’m sad to say I lost a lot of respect for Hannity after the way he treated Fr.Euteneuer. But I’m afraid he has possibly been liberalized in his faith by local clergy. He needs a dose of Fr.Corapi as do a lot of us…

Hannity’s problem is he’s trying to rationalize claiming to be pro-life while supporting a pro-choice Republican candidate. I sincerely hope the Republican Party is not stupid enough to make us make that choice.

Sometimes it makes me wonder what’s happening to our nation! By the time our nation gets back into the shape it once was it would take decades! By that time it will already be too little too late. Quite frankly it frightens me. Unless we see a radical change in our nation, and I mean I big one, our nation will perish like the Roman Empire did. Learn the lesson from the fall of Rome. That’s why we need to get on our knees and pray for our Bishops, priests and politicians. They need our prayers.

Hannity want to divide BC out of the ABC. Many Catholics and Protestants tend to do this also.

My motto is that if you can’t beat them, out populate them. Unfortunately, this is the Muslims motto too. I have six kids that will be voting in the not so distant future. The liberals have just figured this out.

LOL 👍 Way to go.

From the Rockford, IL Observer:
Bishop Doran’s Column
It surprises me a bit that Bishop Doran commented on the matter at all. I think it’s a good column on the whole, but I can’t agree that Archbishop Niederauer needs to be let off the mat just yet.

Back to the topic that I wanted to respond to. I think it is interesting that you are attacking the ONLY station, Fox News, that covered this horrible story. I mean this is not the thread to express our distaste on Hannity’s beliefs or lack of. Instead we should focus on the fact that no other newspaper or newstation covered this story. Another show on Fox News (and I won’t tell you who it is, for fear of another attack) said that all Catholics should be offended. He tried to confront the mayor who said he did not recieve one complaint from the Catholics in SF so he did nothing. The Fox station also notes that if this was done at a Jewish temple or a Muslim place of worship, the media would be all over this story. Why do we stand by and let this happen? Write to the Mayor, write to the newspapers, write and tell them that we have the right to worship in peace without being attacked or interrupted. We have the right to protest when this right of worship is taken away. If we stand by and do nothing then that makes it okay and it will only get worse. We need to pray AND take action. This is not time to go against the church and what they are or not doing. The leaders of SF need to be reminded that ALL Americans have the right to worship and not be offended. They are the ones we need to respond to.
