He did, however, seem very nervous (who wouldn’t be), and almost shocked himself. 😃

The picture of him being “blessed” by protestant ministers is disturbing actually, though to be fair, I do not know the context of that photo. However, today he was very careful to be proper when he asked the faithful to pray for God to bless him, rather than directly asking for their blessing.

He has stood up against the government here, and I hope he will bring change for good in Argentina!

I thought he looked a bit overwhelmed but it also seemed like he was taking time to see individuals instead of a crowd.

Well, admittedly you know the man much better than I. (We will all be blessed to know him very well in the coming months and years 😃 ) But in any case, that was my initial reaction. He didn’t work the crowd waving to them as JPI, JPII, BXVI did. He just kind of stood there…which is what gave me the impression I had.

We are truly blessed it seems in who has been elected Pope. How can there be such negativity amongst us already? God is in charge, the Cardinals listened to the Holy Spirit and finally we have a Pope Francis - never could figure out why no one took that name sooner! After all St. Francis was one heck of a guy!

May the Lord bless Pope Francis I, and of us hopeful and cantankerous folk who love the Lord and struggle with our human frailties. I’m so grateful for a holy, strong, and humble PAPA!
 
One other random thing about our new Holy Father…I have seen that he is fluent in Spanish, German, and Italian, but not English. That is interesting

It is disturbing, and if you would like to understand why, I would politely and respectfully encourage you to take the time to read what the Church has traditionally taught on interfaith prayer services, in particular allowing non-Catholics to lead such prayer or, in this case acting as if some protestant minister has the power to bless you in anyway. When you have the time, there are dozens of threads you can look to on here if you are curious to do so. The simple truth of the matter is that protestants who call themselves ministers have no more ability to bless anyone than you or I do. He could have asked them to pray to God so that God would bless him, as he did today when he requested that of the faithful, but to bow down and receive a false blessing is indeed disturbing.

As I noted above, I do not know the context of the photo, so I am giving our Holy Father the benefit of the doubt, as I am with the Mass video which was shared earlier.

As for the rest, I recommend not reading that webpage, it contains of bunch of drivel and vitriol which is not deserving of your time. I personally wish I had never seen it as it has done nothing but cause me consternation.

There is happiness because we finally have a Pope. We are assuming he will be a good Pope, but of course, we don’t know. We should absolutely give him the benefit of the doubt.

As for the negativity, we shouldn’t be negative at this point. We hardly know anything about him. I do hope the charge that he is against the traditional Mass is untrue; Pope Benedict has done so much to encourage it’s continuation.

As for whether the cardinals listened to the Holy Spirit, I have no idea. They are supposed to, we should hope they do, but God agrees to work with whoever they choose, He leaves then free to choose whoever they want.

I love Saint Francis, too. Apart from Mary and Joseph, he may be the greatest saint of all time. It is strange that no one took his name before now.

Actions speak louder than words. My understanding is our new Pontiff is an extremely modest and humble man. Mayhaps he will lead by example and show the material world the value of Catholic works? In any event we are all just speculating, he was just selected after all. I am optimistic with my own rational mind he is a good choice, the fact the Spirit chose him is also all the proof I need.
