Which reminds me of the time 15 or so years ago when animal rights activists tried to set free the wolves of Como Park Zoo in Minneapolis. The wolves, being smarter than the Pinheads, knew where their next meal was coming from, and couldn’t be bothered to walk through the doors the animal rights’ people threw wide open for them. They were still there the next morning (the wolves, that is) waiting for their zookeepers and their next meal! 😃
 
Guys like this I know what I’d do with 'em…

Only it would be a wasted of a good nightstick and bullets… PLUS I’m sure it’s a mortal sin and violates most of the commandments…

I think these idiot activists need jobs. They have too much idle time on their hands.

I wouldn’t trust them with any important job. Or one that required basic reading and writing skills. Or math beyond the 1st or 2nd grade level. Or much else…
 
When a PETA story comes up, I reminded of a letter writer to the Arizona Republic who made this challenge to animal "rights activists a few years ago.

"Instead of tossing fake blood on fur wearing frail geriatric soceity matrons and anorexic models, why don’t you really show the courage of your convictions.

“Go into any outlaw biker bar and you will find plenty of people wearing the skins of dead animals. Toss your fake blood on them.”

I’m reminded of what Dennis Miller said,“I’ve seen these wingnuts step over their fellow human beings lying in a pool of their own _ _ _ _ in order to spit on someone wearing a fur.”
 
Wow, as much as I support animal welfare that it just ridiculous. If those people are willing to invest the time and money to keep that cub alive then why the heck not? It’s definatly not the first predatory animal to be bottlefed by humans. From the zoos standpoint the bear could turn out to be very valuable and even from the species perspective that cub could be extremely valueable. If that baby can be handled by people when it gets older then the zoo and keepers can use it to educate the public about polar bears and what they need to survive…that could do wonders for conservation.

I generally support PETA but they get some twisted ideas sometimes.:confused:

Nichjake, with respect, how much do you know about PETA? Do you know only what their literature tells you or have you investigated on your own just what they are all about?
 
I know quite a bit about PETA…keep in mind I’m a liberal, vegetarian, atheist college student. Perhaps it makes more sense now? I know most people are generally against PETA, extreme viewpoints generally scare people. But my opinion is that we need the radical viewpoints to try to shove stuff in peoples faces. Without it the middle of the road people would be seen as more extreme and pretty much be ignored.

I don’t agree with their tactics most of the time but I think their overall message get things out in the open. Their videos and “propaganda” as some people call it may be extreme, gruesome and terrible to watch…but a lot of it is truth presented in its rawest form. The evoke emotion from people, whether its for or against them it doesn’t matter. They get people feeling and thinking. Emotion and thought is a key component to change.

Scared? More like amused. 😃 PETA is hilarious in their extremism. On the other hand, it is sad and pathetic when people place insects and rodents as equals (or better in some cases) to humans.

Thanks for the bio. That explains a lot. My gripe with PETA is the radicals who came to one of the dog shows I attended the purpose of which was to free dogs from cages. Three ran into the street and one was killed. The owners were devastated. That is change I certainly don’t want to see.

Try as they might to put a positive spin on it, those PETA thugs were engaging in criminal behavior. :mad:

Now you’ve done it – when I first read that I didn’t realize it was three dogs who ran into the street and one was killed. I’ll have to go to confession.
